What's the matter with Holly?

Recently some General Hospital fans were asking on Facebook what had happened to Holly Sutton (Emma Samms) because she looked different. When the actress returned for a few episodes at the end of 2022 she explained her situation but obviously, not everyone is aware of what is going on. Samms stated in an interview with Soap Opera Digest that she was suffering the effects of long covid. She shared that she had trouble breathing and that she could not walk far or stand for long periods of time.

She also said she had problems sleeping but General Hospital execs were willing to work with her. Due to the side effects of the illness, Samms's 2022 return was brief. Viewers noticed her speech pattern is slower and at times she appears to be struggling through her lines and her facial expat times appear exaggerated. These are not things she can help but the changes are there. When Holly returned last year she was found soaking wet washed up at the Quartermaine mansion. Some viewers at the time may have assumed that her actions were a part of the role of someone who had almost drowned if they were not aware of the long-term covid.

People with Long COVID can have a wide range of symptoms that can last weeks, months, or even years after infection. Sometimes the symptoms can even go away and come back again. For some people, Long COVID can last weeks, months, or years after COVID-19 illness and can sometimes result in disability.

Samms is really doing a great job

Kudos to General Hospital for finding a way to bring Sutton back and weave Holly into the Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy) storyline Sutton is to be commended for being brave enough to appear on camera knowing that some viewers might not understand why she looks and sounds different. She has shown herself to be a professional but many fans no longer want to see her with Roberty Scorpio (Tristan Rogers).

Spoilers say Holly and Felicia Scorpio (Kristina Wagoner), and Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) will arrive in Greenland for the final takedown of Victor. Helena Cassadine (Constance Townes) will appear around May 6 but it's not clear if she is alive or will be a ghostly visitation. Connie Falconeri ( Kelly Sullivan) appeared to a dying Julian Jerome (William deVry) so if Helena is really dead she might come for Victor to usher him not into the pearly gates but the other place.

Victor is going down in a big way

Anna, Holly, and Felicia will be joining Curtis Ashford, (Donnell Turner) Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stewart), Laura Collins (Genie Francis), and Drew Cain ( Cameron Mathison) who have already arrived at Victor's compound in Greenland. Spoilers say Victor will go out in a big way so Holly might have a hand in what happens to him. The Cassadine patriarch shot Holly's twin sister Poloma right in front of her and had her son Ethan Lovett (James Lovett) held captive.

Ethan was about to be sold to the highest bidder who had the right to murder him any way they chose but Tracy Quartermaine (Jame Elliot) paid millions to have him set free so Holly has a score to settle. Tune in to General Hospital to find out what role Ms. Sutton plays in Victor's downfall and how he exits the show. Will Holly go back to Port Charles to pursue a relationship with Robert or will she remain abroad and allow Robert to spend time with Diane Miller (Carolyn Hennesy)? Keep watching General Hospital to find out.

    Fabulous review!!!

  • I luv watching this show but it's been so long, I've been so busy, yikes. This is a great topic to write about, I will definitely read more.

  • Interesting. And kudos to the writers for finding a way to weave her weakened condition into the storyline. Still not planning on watching, but both interesting & well-written.
