General Hospital Fans Want Shawn Butler Set Free

Monday’s episode of General Hospital, was a classic from the 2014 Nurses Ball. Spencer Cassadine was adorable as a 6 year old fighting with Cameron Weber for the love of pretty little Emma Drake. In the midst of everyone walking the red carpet and preparing for the annual gala, many viewers took note of a specific issue. Shawn Butler was on screen talking to Sonny Corinthos and now some fans are decrying the fact that he has not yet seen justice. Shawn was imprisoned for a crime he did not commit in 2015 and was last seen in 2016 when Jason and Sam paid him a visit. He is missing precious time with his son TJ. and everyone is moving forward without him.

It looks as if Sean has been forgotten as even JaSam have not mentioned him anymore. Other Port Charles residents have been locked up in Pentonville, yet no one has ever come in contact with Mr. Butler. While his character languishes in prison, the dashing Sean Blakemore has been quite busy on Prime Time. He has appeared in movies on BET and TVOne as well as starring in the television series The Quad. He currently on OWN‘s Greenleaf which will begin its fifth and final season in June. Perhaps now that Greenleaf is wrapping up Blakemore might consider visiting Port Charles to tie up loose ends.

Shawn went to jail for shooting Hayden Barnes but it was really a hit man sent by Nikolas Cassadine who recently returned from the dead. Shawn had been working for Sonny and Jason but they have turned their backs on him. Hayden returned to town and left again with no mention of the man who is in jail because of her. She helped Nikolas return to Port Charles even though he tried to have her killed, so why let Shawn take the fall? Some General Hospital fans believe Dawn should be set free but where would he fit in current day Port Charles? He could reconnect with his son TJ and perhaps assist Sonny and Jason in taking down Cyrus Renault.

Even if Sean did not come back long term, he could at least have some closure to his situation. Hayden should return as well and sort out all the issues of the past but this a is highly unlikely scenario. Even so, General Hospital viewers enjoyed going down memory lane during the Nurses Ball and seeing how so much has changed in 6 year. Nikolas and Emma are young adults now and there is a new Cameron. In 2014 Lucy was still married to Kevin, Britta was sulking because Nikolas had broken up with her, Liesel Obrecht was chief of staff and Brad mistakenly thought Felix and Lucas were a couple when they walked the red carpet together. Sonny was not with Carly but Olivia, whom he had recently cheated on.

Bobby was dating Scott and Dante and Lulu were very much in love. Maxie was hanging out with her long haired guru and Nathan was still alive. Mac and Felicia were newly wed, and there were different actors portraying Jordan and TJ. Alexis and Julian went public with their relationship, the ball gowns were exquisite and Shawn really cleaned up well in his tux. Liz walked the red carpet with Rick Lancing and Sam made her entrance with Silas Clay who is now deceased. Michael was with Kiki who was portrayed at that time by Kristen Alderson. With all the changes from that point, Shawn Butler still rots in prison.

The “free Shawn” movement more than likely will not catch on but it’s a nice sentiment. Amen f Mr. Butler were to go free there would be a domino effect and the writers probably don’t want to go in that direction. Jordan, TJ, Hayden, and Nikolas would have their lives altered and Prince Cassadine would be facing jail time. Sonny and Jason could always use a helping hand and who knows, Alexis could hook back up with her ex. It looks like nothing is going to come of her relationship with Neil and Julian has married Nelle. General Hospital is now showing classic episodes and the Nurses is Ball will continue for the rest of this week.
