Daytime television may be on hiatus again

Soap fans should brace themselves for another hiatus from watching their favorite daytime drama programs. Production in California has been halted because of the rise in the numbers of people infected with the coronavirus. According to Deadline, The major studios and streamers, meanwhile, are already on production hiatus in Southern California until mid-January. The agreement to halt local commercial production was announced tonight by SAG-AFTRA, the Producer Guild of America, and the Joint Policy Committee of the Association of National Advertisers and the American Association of Advertising Agencies."

This would indicate that General Hospital, The Bold and the Beautiful, and The Young and the Restless would all be immediately affected. Days of Our Lives has a different taping schedule and may have a few more original episodes to air than the other three soaps. This will be a blow to soap fans who were just getting back into their favorite shows after the previous hiatus that lasted from March until July. While we wait for news, and official confirmation, here is what Soaps.com is predicting will happen in 2021 on the 4 remaining daytime drama show. Please keep in mind that these are not spoilers but only what Soaps She Knows is suggesting as possible storylines. When these predictions do not come to pass, just remember they were never guaranteed as fact.

Days of Our Lives

The spoiler indicates that Sammy Brady will return to Salem with the love of her life EJ Dimera. A photo shows Daniel Goddard, (Ex Cane Ashby Y&R). This caused fans to congratulate the actor for taking over the role of EJ but there has been no official confirmation. Please keep in mind that Soaps.com is only sharing predictions, but it could indeed turn out to become a reality. Until something is confirmed, Soaps Opera Network says that Goddard will not be portraying EJ, so the question is, "Who will"? The spoiler also suggests that Gwen might be the daughter of Jack Devereaux from one of his dalliances. it's also being suggested that Charlie will turn out to have had a brain tumor which will explain why he raped Allie.

General Hospital

Soaps.com indicates that after Peter is exposed, that Maxie and Dante will bond over their shared grief over Lulu. The two will get physical and at this time Lulu will emerge from her coma and return home. Previous spoilers have suggested that Maxie would turn to either Brando or Spinelli, so fans will have to ride this one out and see what really takes place. Maxie and Dante would be great co-parents to all the children; Rocko, Charlotte, James, and the new baby. If Lulu had died, the fans might accept this and even see it as inevitable. Should the role be recast and Laura's daughter return to Port Charles this would be one big mess. There is also the fact that Dante promised to wait for his ex-wife and the possibility that Maxie might blame him for taking Peter away from her.

The Young and the Restless

One prediction that is pretty farfetched is that Adam will be working with Jack's other son Keemo as well as Theo in order to take control of Jabot. Tyler Johnson has been given his walking papers and has boutiques to run in Paris, so this scenario is not likely. Keemo returning to Genoa City, however, is always a possibility. Soaps.com also suggests that Faith might be acting out in order to reunite her parents but at this time it seems more likely that she is being manipulated by Jordan. Phyllis hooking up with Chance does not sound likely but down the road who knows what will happen.

The Bold and the Beautiful

Soaps.com puts it out there what many viewers would love to see, which is both Steffy and Hope kicking Liam to the curb. This will cause him to lean on his brother and Wyatt will be concerned that his older sibling might try to put the moves on Flo. Truthfully, if Brad Bell sticks with his same old predictable formula, it might be Finn who is the odd man out and Steffy reunites with Liam, while Hope turns to Thomas. Should Steffy's baby turn out to belong to Hope's husband, this will probably push Steam back together.

The spoiler suggests that Paris Buckinghan will detain Zende so that he will not be able to object and stop the wedding between Carter and Zoe. More than likely it will be Zoe herself who ruins the relationship. Soaps.com also points out that once upon a time there was chemistry between Brooke and her stepson, that could be reunited while they are living under the same roof. Viewers will not want to see this take place but history often does repeat itself on B&B where past relationships are concerned.

These are but a few of the zany storylines that Soaps She Knows suggests. While most of them do not seem to have any merit, there are 1 or 2 that might have a slim chance of becoming a reality.
