The Number One Reason the DCEU Is Not Failing
Ever since Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (BVS: DoJ) released in theaters to jump-start the future films of the DCEU, fans on both sides of the comic book divide have been going back and forth about whether the DC Comics' recent post-Dark Knight Trilogy films are good or bad. Yes, Man of Steel came out first and technically began the franchise known today as the DCEU, but the whole "controversy" of fans vs critics began with Batman vs Superman.

In a baffling move from Warner Bros and DC Comics, they have just announced plans to develop a standalone movie based on Batman's most popular villain, the Joker. Joaquin Phoenix is set to don the white-face and green hair in what the studio has described as an origin story for the Joker.
Anthony DiChiaraPublished 6 years ago in GeeksHow Justice League’s Gravely Misguided Interpretation and Application of 'Show, Don’t Tell' in Dialogue Distances the Audience from Its Characters
Justice League's release marked the christening of the namesake group of heroes on the big screen; the kind of cinematic event pure childhood wonder, larger-than-life fantasies, and whimsical role-play are made of. Usually. For a $300 million comic-book extravaganza—painted by many a skeptic as THE crucible of no return for WB's sprawling movie universe— whose primordial concern was supposed to be convincingly re-affirming its brand's struggling reputation to a new generation of audiences, this film sure takes viewers for granted. To better understand why, we must take a contextual look at what came before it.

For many a superhero fan, there are a plethora of choices for your own personal favourite, be it The Flash, Batman, Superman, Aquaman, or anyone else from the DC/Marvel universe (not to mention other companies). As a woman, it was always going to be an easy thing to find yourself identifying on a level with the likes of Wonder Woman, Batgirl, or even Hawk-girl. However, if you chose to identify with a secondary (no less important), female character, there were few people you could pick without bumping into a character mainly shown as a male hero's romantic interest.

The film that I have been waiting for since I was 4. Hell, I didn't even know about the Avengers until I was 7, so the JLA was my number one in terms of superhero team ups. I grew up watching the Justice League Animated Series so seeing it brought to life brings the little kid out of me.
Danielle BPublished 6 years ago in GeeksDoes 'Batman v Superman' Make Sense?
On the outside, Batman v Superman is a complete mess from beginning to “MARTHA!” Now I’m not going to ever claim it’s a great movie; to be sure, it has its storytelling flaws and would certainly be better if some characters were moved around or replace, or you didn’t have a studio that deleted entire scenes that explained what the plot.

Alongside their lauded Rebirth line of comic book titles, publisher DC comics also launched a new line spearheaded by acclaimed British writer Warren Ellis and artist Jon Davis-Hunt titled: The Wild Storm. To anyone familiar with the works of Jim Lee, the early days of Image Comics, Lee's rise in rank in the offices of DC Comics and Warren Ellis's previous acclaimed series The Authority and Planetary, that name should sound familiar. The Wild Storm is a reboot of the former Wildstorm Universe, back after a long period of stagnation with a shot in the arm by the very man whose work gave the imprint it's most lauded work. But can lightning strike twice?

The Flash returned from its winter hiatus tonight, ushering in Barry's trial for the supposed murder of Clifford DeVoe. And while I love The Flash, this episode had more issues than Time Magazine.

Blood Is Thicker Than Water: Could The DCEU's 'Aquaman' Be Related To Poseidon?
Last year brought us the second live-action appearance of the King from (literally) down under, Aquaman. His existence in the DCEU has already been praised by fans, furthering the rapturous acclaim with his "surf board" riding scene in Justice League. Well, even with his brief appearances, we still don't know much about the hero, and could possibly have to wait for his solo film just like Wonder Woman.

Currently I am watching the newest installment of DC comics, the Justice League. I know really late. My brother said it is better than all the Marvel movies and the rest of the DC films. That was not the case.
Rich BurtonPublished 6 years ago in GeeksWhy Don't More People Die in Comics?
If there’s one thing I’ve always loved about comics, it’s the insane level of violence they contain. Or—to put it another way—that they don’t contain.
Sebastian PhillipsPublished 6 years ago in Geeks'Wonder Woman' Campaigns for the Oscars, and She May Have a Chance at Winning!
Everyone can agree that Wonder Woman broke ground this year in cinema. The superhero film dominated the box office and shattered sexist stereotypes with its female-driven hero and director. So, it's no wonder that Warner Bros Studios is campaigning for Wonder Woman to be nominated for some Academy awards. Variety reported that the movie has entered in the Oscar ring for several categories, including Best Picture and Best Director for Patty Jenkins. Comic book movies are usually (and unfairly) over looked at the Oscars, but Wonder Woman may have a chance this time.
