Welcome to the digital DC Universe.
Wonder Woman (2017)
Marvel could have had pioneering status: The studio introduced the superhero Black Widow into their film universe early on, but - for whatever reasons - no solo film was made with her, which was the first superhero blockbuster that won over critics and box office after failures like "Supergirl" , "Catwoman" and "Elektra" could have been. The competitor DC succeeded in doing this with “Wonder Woman”.

'Wonder Woman 1984' Has Been Pushed Back in Brazil As COVID-19 Cases Rise In The Country
It goes without saying that this past year has been full of ups and downs, and the ever-changing release date for DC's upcoming film, Wonder Woman 1984, is no exception. This is the sequel to the smash box office hit to Wonder Woman from back in 2017. As far as the DC Extended Universe is concerned, Wonder Woman was introduced in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which received poor reviews from the critics and audience. However, after the introduction, Gal Gadot's portrayal of Wonder Woman won people over, especially in her solo film. Given its success, it was no surprise for Warner Bros. to green-light the sequel with Patty Jenkins back on the directing chair, despite the murky reception to the Justice League movie in which Wonder Woman appeared. Unlike the first Wonder Woman film, which was set in World War 1 (a decision which different from her origin in the comic books), the sequel is set in 1984, about 66 years after the original film. (For those who may be wondering, Wonder Woman is about 5000 years old.)

'Shazam 2' Rumored to Begin Filming Next Year
With the film industry still in a state of flux due to COVID-19, movie fans all over are eager for any news they can get about upcoming features and when they might expect to see them. As someone who lives her life looking forward to the next big film premiere, I for one am grateful for any positive news to be found, especially in the wake of Wonder Woman 1984 and Black Widow's repeated reschedules. In this time of great uncertainty, especially with tentpole films like Mulan heading to streaming, even news of continued production gives us hope that we will see our favorite heroes on the big screen again sometime soon.

Chief Executive Officer Jim Lee Speaks About the Fate of DC Universe Streaming Service and Other Rumors
The DC world is ever-changing. On Monday, August 10, WarnerMedia fired 20% of the colossal comic book company's staff. In light of this, fans have turned back to rumors and concerns that have popped up here and there over the past year. Thankfully, The Hollywood Reporter brought these topics to the attention of DC's Jim Lee, who is the company's chief creative officer and publisher.

Stars of DC's 'The Suicide Squad' Wish James Gunn A Happy Birthday Via Video
On the big screen, Suicide Squad has not had the best reputation. When this DC film came out in 2016, reception was generally negative. Live-action DC films were perceived in a negative light, especially in light of the then-recent release of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Focusing on a team of “bad guys,” Suicide Squad was different from what the comic book movie audience normally got. It could have worked, but the execution just did not have a near-universal resonance. One could even argue that the best Suicide Squad movies are the animated films Batman: Assault on Arkham and Suicide Squad: Hell to Pay, which are set in the Arkhamverse and the DC Animated Movie Universe, respectively.

'Doom Patrol' Season 2 Maintains Weirdness, Touches Upon Trauma, But Ends Too Quickly
Doom Patrol just wrapped up its second season (sort of). Trying to be as spoiler-free as possible, I have very mixed feelings about how it ended. However, this is still my favorite live-action DC show. To those unfamiliar, I may have to provide a little background about the characters.

Who is the Best Batman
Batman is one of the most popular superheroes of all time and is beloved by both superhero fans and movie fans alike. Many actors have attempted to dawn the cape and cowl, bringing audiences some amazing, and some... not so amazing performances. With so many actors playing the Dark Knight many people consistently debate who exactly was the best. To decide objectively we will see how each actor fared under certain criteria and the winner of each criteria gets one point. The Batman with the most points is THE BEST BATMAN.

Snyder Shows New 'Justice League' Scene With Black Suit for Superman
Ever since Zack Snyder took over as director of the latest DC Comics films (Man of Steel, Batman v Superman, and Justice League) some of his creative choices have been...controversial, to say the least. Fans have been highly divided on the films, and the critical reception has been less than stellar. However, many people agree that the director's cut of Batman v Superman is a marked improvement over the theatrical release, adding to character arcs, explaining some murky story elements, and closing plot threads. With Justice League in a similar boat, fans are looking forward to seeing what Snyder's true vision for the film was, and whether the director's cut can improve the film in a fashion similar to that of Batman v Superman.

'Batman: Death in the Family' Interactive Movie Coming This Autumn
DC is always on the move when it comes to their animated features. Whether it be shared universe films, standalones, or Elseworlds type of stories, DC animation can range from straightforward adaptations to complete reimaginings. Adding fuel to the hype, a trailer just debuted for the newly announced Batman: Death in the Family. Those familiar with the title may already know of the monumental 1988 storyline “A Death in the Family,” which resulted in the death of Jason Todd, the second Robin, at the hands of the Joker. This was made possible by the amount of fans who called a 1-900 number that year to let DC know whether or not they think Jason Todd should be killed.

Zack Snyder Hints at a Longer Runtime for His Cut of 'Justice League'
The DCEU film Justice League has been a hot topic of much comic book movie discussion since its release in November 2017. Zack Snyder could not complete the film due to a tragedy in the family, so Joss Whedon took over. The resulting film had a 120-minute runtime and was deemed underwhelming to many moviegoers. Even if it was not terrible, it should have been better for what it was. After all, the Justice League are DC's iconic team of high profile superheroes. Since the film's release, there have been tidbits about just how different Zack Snyder's version of the film would have been, prompting a sect of DC fandom to campaign for this version using #ReleaseTheSnyderCut.

Zack Snyder Is Excited About 'The Batman' Starring Robert Pattinson
Whenever a new Batman is cast, there tends to be a sect of fandom that feels skeptical about the new actor in the role. This goes way back to the casting of comedic actor Michael Keaton for the titular role in the 1989 film simply titled Batman. Lo and behold, Keaton now tends to be a fan favorite for many, with some even clamoring for him to return in a possible live-action Batman Beyond.
