Will Smith is the unfortunate collateral damage in this sordid tale or is he?

Jada and her men.

Jada Pinket Smith recently admitted to having an "entanglement" with August Alsina while still married but separated from Will Smith. Alsina has clapped back with a song that lays it all on the line, leaving no doubt how deep the connection went. The title of his new release is, "Entanglement." The facts are Jada Smith cheated on her spouse, by having sex with another man. She tried to downplay what happened by carefully choosing her words in order to soften the blow to the public. Alsina was obviously offended by Mrs. Smith's attempt to make their situation seem less than what it actually was. In the song he just dropped August makes it crystal clear exactly what took place between the pair and unfortunately, Will Smith is caught in the middle of the war of words between the former lovers.

When I first read of the "entanglement" I was not certain what Pinket-Smith meant by it. Perhaps she simply hung out with this man who was not her husband, had lunch, dinner, or a movie with him. Maybe he was a shoulder to lean on during a trying time. I did not automatically jump to the conclusion that adultery had taken place although I suspected this was the case. I read an excerpt from Jada's Red Table Talk where she admitted to having a secret relationship while separated from Will, but she never admitted that sex was involved. If anyone had any doubts about what took place the new song from Alcina is brutally honest. The lyrics are as follows:

“The definition of entanglement/ It’s when you tangled in the sheets/ Girl I know that we don’t call it a relationship/ But you’re still fu##in’ with me,” he sings in the opening of the song. “Entanglements, is when you tangled in them sheets/ Entanglements, is when you’re tangled up with me/ Entanglements, is when you’re gettin’ in too deep/ Tangled up with me, tangled in them sheets.”

Jada Pinket-Smith met August Alsina during the 2017 BET Awards. She says she pursued a relationship with him during a time when she was unhappy in her marriage to Will Smith. According to US Weekly, a "source" said that Will and Jada now have an unbreakable bond but four years earlier the couple were singing a different tune. During the Red Table Talk where Will showed up, here is part of what was said. Jada addressed her husband by stating: “We were over,” Will replies, “I was done with your ass. ... We decided we were going to separate for a period of time, and you go figure out how to make yourself happy, and I’ll figure out how to make myself happy.”

This sounds like the couple is trying to do damage control and make it seem as if being separated made it OK to cheat and that all is well now. It will be interesting to find out how August Alsina dropping his new song and the F-bomb will affect the couple. Their attempt to sanitize the affair has just been shot down by Alsina coming clean with the truth. There have long been rumors that the Smiths have an unconventional open marriage but whatever had been going on with them before remained private. The rapper has said publicly that Jada's spouse gave his blessing for the affair but Will Smith stated that Jada did not need his permission because they were separated at the time.

Alsina appears to be troubled by the terminology that Mrs. Pinket Smith used to describe what took place between them, which begs the question of what he was expecting? Did he want something more, or perhaps thought Jada would leave Will for him. Perhaps it was only a fling for Pinket-Smith and the rapper fell deeply in love. Whatever took place and for whatever reason it ended, August Alsina is clearly a man scorned. His new recording comes across as if he is saying to his former paramour that he wants the world to know exactly how they were entangled and he could not have made it any plainer.

Will and Jada have been married since 1997 and whatever type of relationship they have, it has worked for them and lasted thus far. In a recent interview with Vulture, Alsina acknowledged that "entanglement" is actually well suited as the definition for the relationship he had with Pinket-Smith. If, however, he truly felt this way, then why the need to record the song and tell the world he screwed another man's wife? It's as if he thought Jada left things vague so he was going to acknowledge the raw truth of what happened between them. Fans will be watching closely to see how Will Smith deals with this latest development. It's one thing to sit in front of a camera and put a good spin on a bad situation, by saying all is well. It is something totally different when another man is singing to all the world that he banged your spouse.
