Animal Crossing Cosplay
Step by Step, Part 3
Part 3: Makeup, hair, and presentation
Chevre is so close! This is the part of the build where I start to get really excited about the final project coming together. It is also where I start to get anxiety and want to redo everything about it, but there is always time for reflection afterward. For now, we must push on!
Chevre’s face is pretty simple. There are only one or two distinct parts. She has two wings for her “eyelashes”, and some pink freckles on her face. Otherwise it is perfectly white. Because this is a gijinka, I decided not to bother with white or lighter foundation, and just used my normal skin color for the base. I’m sure I’m plenty white as is!
Next came the lips. For this, I had a few choices. Her New Leaf art has Chevre with a blue mouth, but her New Horizons art has her with a plain black mouth.
Since I’m using New Horizons, I tried a dark lipstick first but it clashed with her pink freckles and ears and ended up being very distracting. I opted for a matching light pink instead.
Next I looked at the eyes. I don’t like fake lashes, and wanted something slightly more cartoony than that, so I used liquid eyeliner instead to achieve her double winged look. I also added some sparkly white eyeshadow, because I cannot get enough sparkles.
Next up is hair styling. Although my hair isn’t quite as red as Chevre’s, it was close enough that I didn’t want to purchase a wig for my casual cosplay. My hair is also slightly wavy and that fit in well with her look. So, I pulled a portion of my longer hair from the top of my head forward, and emphasized the curls with a little mousse. For the rest, I put the headband on and pulled my curls over the band to hide it a little better, again styling with mousse.
And she’s done! You can find more photos of my finished product on my Instagram and Patreon. If you decide to make Chevre or any Animal Crossing characters, please comment and leave me a link so I can see!
