Superheroes are kind of a big deal in pop culture currently. What used to be primarily just a genre that was seen on the pages of comics, quickly elevated into the mainstream market with television shows, movies, animated cartoons and video games.
We've seen the characters leap from the pages of comic books into nearly every form of entertainment, and although there have been a few gems the video game world has largely been an ineffective media, that will hopefully all change with the news that the long running free-to-play #PC game is transitioning to both the #Sony PlayStation 4 and the #Microsoft Xbox One.
Marvel Heroes Omega Is Coming Soon!

This fusion of #MMO and action-RPG has been a staple in the PC-gaming world for a few years now, and console gamers will finally be thrust into the fray this spring. Originally know as Marvel Universe Online back in 2008 before it became Marvel Heroes in 2009, then Marvel Heroes 2015 and currently Marvel Heroes 2016 - it was announced early this week that Marvel Heroes Omega would make the transition to consoles in the spring giving gamers access to nearly any character from the Marvel Universe.
The game is developed by Gazillion Entertainment and will give players access to over 60 playable characters across the various groups of heroes. Unlike the fractured Marvel Cinematic Universe, all the character from Marvel's history are available to play as, including:
- The Avengers
- The Guardians of the Galaxy
- Spider-Man
- The Fantastic Four
- The Inhumans
- and many others...

The game will launch with a nine-chapter campaign which will take your characters across several iconic locations known to all Marvel fans: from Asgard to Hell's Kitchen. Through the campaign players will face off against some of the most devilish villains plucked from the history and lore of the Marvel Universe.
Needless to say, this could be a game that brings new life to the rather sordid past of superhero-based video games.
