I have always been drawn to fantasy. Steve Jackson has a lot to answer for. If you don't know the name, he used to do 'choose your own adventure' books: The Warlock of Firetop Mountain; City of Thieves; Deathtrap Dungeon. There were more. Many more. Those were my favorites. In a world of dwarves, elves and magic, the impossible became real.

Being frozen in cryostasis only to wake up in a galaxy far, far away by a mad scientist is a science fiction trope that has been done more than a few times. Obsidian’s approach to this is as unique as their backstory is. Founded in 2003 by the developers of the original Fallout games after Black Isle Studios' closure, Obsidian has more than made a huge name in the industry for themselves. After working on games such as Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords and even more famously Fallout: New Vegas, Obsidian released a game in 2019 names The Outer Worlds.

Elite Dangerous: The Dadliest of Dad Games
After a successful Kickstarter campaign that started in 2012, Frontier Developments released Elite: Dangerous on December 16th, 2014 for PCs everywhere. The newest iteration of the Elite game series promised greatly improved systems and graphics for the player to enjoy a fully fleshed-out universe. The game was to have procedurally generated content that would give players a sense of wonder and awe as they traveled the many galaxies in the in-game universe. (Looking back, Elite: Dangerous shared similar promises that Hello Game’s: No Man’s Sky had. But that will be a different review, I assure you.) Granted, procedural generation did help create the galaxy that Elite: Dangerous is set in, whilst also allowing real locations to be implemented.

Sweden is a place where casinos have been celebrated for years. Probably, the first brick-and-mortar casino came in 1992. Even before millennials could play and wager on various games, Swedes had it in their passion. Uncommon Baby Names.....for Sims
This is easily my favorite part of playing the Sims. Names are so important in real life, and they are so much fun the game. With mnemonic jokes like Justin Time and Dustin Broke (and my most recent sim, Scott Goodman who was randomly generated with the Evil trait), specific names generate a more immersive and enjoyable experience.

So You Want to Play D&D, Part 2
Today on “So You Want to Play D&D” I’m going to talk about being a player. I do have quite a bit of experience playing roleplaying games, and though I spend most of my time behind a screen as a gamemaster, or Dungeon Master (DM) as the game director is known in D&D, I have put quite a few hours into quite a few characters in several different campaigns, from the weekly game I used to play with my coworkers at the games store I worked at, to pick up games at conventions or open play days. So I’m going to lay out for you what I think, as a player and a DM, you should bring to being a player in a D&D game.
