Metroid Samus Returns Review. Top Story - November 2021.
Context is everything, it can make a victory seem more like a defeat and a loss can be softened in time. 2017 was a stellar year for gaming. Breath of the Wild, Mario Odyssey and Hollow Knight released along with several other incredible titles. Zelda and Mario both got seminal titles that pushed their franchises in all new directions and the little Indie studio Team Cherry produced what is to some the best 2d adventure Metroidvania of all time. But in the midst of all these incredible releases Metroid Samus Returns came out for the aging 3DS platform. I personally did not pick up the game till 2018, and playing it I had a lot of fun, but I was also a little disappointed. Not because of Hollow Knight per se, but because of another smaller release.

Life in Azeroth: Letters to Shadowsithe Ghoststrike
Sometimes, I need a pick-me-up. Or a crap-ton of them…. Fortunately, in my years playing World of Warcraft, I’ve accumulated a number of letters from other players - often thanking me for good or kind deeds or gifts and giveaways. I hope I don’t come off as a humblebrag; I just want to share something that warms my heart on a rough day - and there are plenty of those in a year. I'm sure I'll be looking this article up in the future on bad days since I can look at many of the letters at once - without having to log into the game or looking all over my computers for the screenshots!

Pub Games and Women - Jem’s Perspective
My parents took me to quite a few pubs when I was younger, but I don't remember playing any games in them because we were too busy eating crisps. I think probably my earliest memories are playing pool in pubs when I was a teenager and just hanging out. But when it’s winner stays on and the anxieties around that, if you’re a casual player, the idea of doing the winner stays on thing was horrible, because we didn't want to have to play with some strange old guy who lived there. I did like pool, but it's a game that a lot of women don't play, although in my social group quite a few others did. I was thinking about it from a physicality perspective, there's some issues with people. Because they tend to find a sort of tight place where they can fit it. There's always this thing about people walking past in the tight space and when you're leaning over the table. And there's a whole thing about as a woman, if you're wearing a low cut top or not even that low cut and you're leaning over, if there's somebody sitting at sort of chest height, you just feel a bit exposed. I mean, yes you've got a great big stick in your hand, but other than that there was something about the physicality of pool tables that I think were not conducive to two young women playing. If you lean over the pool table, somebody's looking down your top. And if you're having to take quite a long shot, leaning quite far over, your arse is sticking and you're thinking who's going to walk past and grab or slap your arse?

How to Build a Retro Arcade Cocktail Table
Building a home retro arcade cocktail table has never been simpler. With phenomenal open-source projects like Retro Pie and minimal expense PCs like the Raspberry Pi, we can construct custom arcade machines in quite a few different ways. As of late, I made my own retro arcade cocktail table and needed to share the cycle and steps I took.
