Game Assets For Game Developers

Great Resource of Free and Paid Game Assets

When you're first starting out with creating your own games, it can be difficult to find good assets for your games without spending a fortune. Sure there are a lot of free game assets out there, however, you have to keep track of credits for each game asset you use to include in your project.

There is also a lot of time spent sifting through the different free assets out there and looking through the usage licenses. This can all be very time-consuming when you just want to start creating your game and use quality assets and sprites.

I was fortunate to come across a website with good quality game assets early on in my game development journey. The website is called CraftPix. CraftPix has a lot of different game assets, including character sprites, icons, GUI, full game kits, tilesets, and backgrounds. Most of the game assets are 2D, however, there are some 3D game assets as well.

CraftPix offers both free and paid game assets. There are plenty of free game assets to choose from that will help you get started with your own game development. If you want access to the premium game assets and the full collection that CraftPix has to offer, you can choose to either pay a small monthly fee, at $15 a month or pay for a full year at $3 a month for a total of $36 for a year.

Another awesome aspect of CraftPix is that they are always updating with new assets. They add new game assets every week, and they guarantee at least 12 new assets every month.

For that kind of price, you can't go wrong. If you don't want to buy a monthly or annual membership you can also purchase the assets individually.

Here are some images of the different game assets they offer.

1) Full Game Kits

In order of Left to Right (Fantasy Platformer, Tower Defense, Jetpack Game, Zombie TDS, Gladiators Match 3, Plane Shooter, 2D Racing Game, Base Defense).

Full Game Kit Assets

These are just six of the full game kits out of 4 pages of game kit assets.

2) Sprites and Characters

These all come with your basic animations, and some include body parts that you can use to make your own animations. In order of Left to Right (Monster Set V9, police transport pixel art, 24 Tiny Characters, Tiny Style Skeletons, Tiny Style Wraiths, pixel art bosses, Chibi Style Undead Magicians, RPG pixel monsters).

Sprit Game Assets

There are 20 pages of character sprites and some effects and traps/obstacles.

3) GUI

These GUI's contain a full set of assets for different types of games with multiple windows, icons, action bars, etc. There are many different GUI elements, in the pictures below I am only showing 1 or 2 different features.

In order from Left to Right (RPG MMO, Pixel Art Game Interface, Warforge Mobile UI, Medieval Game UI, Pixel Art Space Shooter, Pixel Art Space Shooter 2, Dark Age UI, Dark Age UI).

There are 3 pages of GUI's available.

4) Backgrounds

The backgrounds offered through CraftPix are well designed and come in layers to create the backgrounds that you need and that will work with your games.

They have 13 pages of different Icons for your game development needs.

6) Tilesets

Again, CraftPix has both pixel and vector tileset game assets. They have platformer and top-down assets for the tilesets.

In order from Left to Right (Cyberpunk Market Street, Stages Game Level, Pixel World Map, Top-Down Dungeon, Pixel Village, Grassy Hill Platformer, Tower Defense, Top-Down Shooter).

Tileset Game Assets

They have 8 Pages of Tilesets.

7) Game Objects

The game objects section covers game assets such as TCG templates, portraits, match 3 sets, and so on.

In order from Left to Right (Boss Portraits, TCG Card Template, Match 3 Assets, Rank Badges, Loading Bars, Alphabet For Kids, Jumping Game Assets, Buttons).

There are 4 Pages of Object game assets to choose from.

8) 3D

While the vast majority of the CraftPix game assets are 2D assets, they do have some 3D assets for you to choose from and occasionally continue to release new 3D game assets.

In order from Left to Right (Low Poly Medieval Houses, Low Poly Orc Fortress, Low Poly Trees, Low Poly Ruin, Low Poly Elves, Low Poly Orc Props, Low Poly Space Colony, Low Poly Battle Towers).

3D Game Assets

There are 3 pages of 3D game assets to choose from.

With their already large collection of game assets to choose from and the additions they make every week, CraftPix is an excellent place to start with game assets as not only a new game developer but even for experienced game developers and intricate games.
