Big Love for the Big Bads: DC's Villains Get More Love in 'Injustice 2' Than Ever Before

DC Comics fans have recently united behind their love for #DC's smash success, Injustice. More than just a comic series, Injustice is a widely loved fighting game for major consoles and mobile devices. Giving fans access to their favorite DC characters for an all out brawl has been a superbly successful formula, settling schoolyard disputes over "who is strongest" the world over.

Recently, teaser trailers for the growing roster of characters have been flooding YouTube, and fans are consistently getting more hyped for the games release next month. Most notable in these trailers is Injustice's commitment to vividly imagining as many of DC's villains as possible.

Set in an alternate universe where #Superman becomes a tyrannical leader after being tricked into killing Lois Lane and destroying Metropolis, Injustice follows the story of Batman as he assembles allies from across the multiple universes to combat the regime that Superman leads. Injustice 2 amps up that story and brings in a whole new collection of allies and opponents.

Through the entire series: comics and games, it's been incredible to see how the beloved heroes and maligned villains have united for their own unique reasons. Yet in the latest trailer for Injustice 2, it sure looks like now is the best time to be bad.

In the latest trailer we see 4 of DC's iconic baddies: Gorilla Grodd, Bane, Captain Cold and the devilish Scarecrow. These 4 characters join the already impressive collection of playable villains announced:

• Brainiac
• Catwoman
• Cheetah
• Darkseid
• Deadshot
• Harley Quinn
• Poison Ivy
• Reverse Flash

With the list seemingly set to grow more, there's never been a better reason to be bad, and it feels so good! It's not a surprising move for DC and Warner Bros. to focus in on including more villains in the sequel, especially after seeing how well the various villains are accepted by the general fanbase.

Just look at how well #SuicideSquad was accepted by fans, especially the portrayal of the specific villains (ahem, Harley Quinn). The villains are often the most beloved characters in the #DCEU, and they are what will likely drive fans to the game, because everyone loves being bad.

Injustice 2 is set to release on May 16, 2017 for PS4 and Xbox One, and the freemium mobile app will launch in tandem for Android and iOS.
