My partner and I fighting the Corrupter, and optional boss in Remnant 2!

In my opinion, this year has been one of the best for new release games. From Indie games- to globally recognized franchises- here is a full list of personal favorites. All of which are newly released, or soon to be released, in 2023 to 2024!

Best Games List;

Starting out strong with Baldur's Gate 3;

Baldur's Gate is a Dungeons and Dragons enthused title with heavy elements of turn-based campaign play. You'll enjoy strategic playthrough options with various ways of unfolding your journey. There are several NPC companions that you can enlist in your party and also romance.

Multiplayer mode is available, which allows you to invite up to four friends! There is about 174 hours of lore and content available to discover, so this game is best enjoyed with patience in mind. So, take your time, and enjoy the experience! - as would be the case for any real life DnD campaign!

This game is definitely new-user friendly, if you've never played in a Dnd campaign or previous DnD titles, no need to worry, Larian Studios has your back!

Screen Capture of Baldur's Gate area The Under Dark after battling a Spectator
  • Unique Turn - based combat mode, allows for you to explore around the map to better observe the surroundings and strategize a plan for your next moves!
  • Extensive skill development, with options later to reset or change your talents, traits, and skill points.
  • Beautifully rendered with quality graphics
  • Lore is immersive and fun, with epic narration to really put you in the story!
  • Great customization options for your character (You can now change your character details later in-game)
  • Voice actors did a superb job expressing emotion and tone.
  • Soundtrack is ethereal!
  • Multiplayer mode up to four players, anything under four allows you to enlist an NPC to make it a fully party!
  • Be ready to discover a lot of secrets in games!
  • Next on the list!

    Lies of P

    Lies of P is a spin on the universe of Pinocchio. This title is a Souls-like game- Exploration, combat, and boss battles can be very challenging! (I urge you to develop some patience if you are to take on a game like this, unless you've played the Souls games before.) I quickly became quite fond of this game because the story and character development is superb and immerses players enough to get you hooked. I have yet to come close to even completing the story, however, what I've uncovered so far is well worth the investment.

    Note-worthy Features;

    • About an average of 30 to 54 hours of gameplay(depending on the player's gameplay style) if aiming for 100% completion.
    • Loads of secrets and some Easter eggs!
    • Elegant Steampunk style! (Loved all the intricate details in the outfits and environment)
    • Extensive weapon building mechanics!
    • Challenging bosses and side quests!
    • Steampunk meets Pinocchio in the absolute best way possible.
    • Captivating dialogue and well versed narration!
    • Features a "Lying System" which determines the course of events, leading to three distinct "endings".

    Remnant 2

    Much like its predecessor, Remnant 2 did not disappoint in the slightest. The gameplay and storyline are intense and immersive, loved all the thought and efforts they put into character and monster designs. The environment is also very well crafted. The equiptment you can get in-game is my favorite feature apart from the ability to play co-op with a couple friends. It gets difficult at times but that's the point to a title like this one. I say it is very much worth every penny, and will be a game my partner and I will repeatedly finish!

    Fighting The Corrupter, one of the many optional bosses in the game

    Best features;

    • Unlimited stamina when out of combat- small feature that wasn't in the first game...
    • Adventure mode separate from campaign/story mode, can also reroll adventure worlds without affecting the story line.
    • Can cancel-roll when performing action(when surprised by major attacks you can do this to avoid death! or large damage)
    • Unique armor designs and loads of combinations to make cool outfits(whilst also still having good stats)
    • Unlockable hidden archetypes, which offer unique skillsets, and perks for your character build when you begin a new game!
    • Secret items, rings, weapons, and shop locations!
    • Any new character you create will have access to any unlocked features and items on your account!
    • Unbelievably amazing soundtracks, especially during boss fights!
    • Extremely challenging!! This game is so complex and well thought-out, it won't be easy to gain all the cool achievements and weapons, but it definitely pays off!

    If you like Cozy or cute games try;

    Puffpals Island Skies

    I supported this absolutely adorable game just a year ago on KickStarter and I feel so honoured and excited to be one of the Alpha testers!

    This game is still in development but should be released in 2024. This is a very cute, relaxing game that allows you to either play alone or with friends and family! The game is definitely meant for people of all ages who love adorable creatures, playing dress-up, farming, decorating their house, exploring magical places, and so much more!

    For anyone that's interested: you can still pre-order the game through the link that I provided in the title! As well as purchase physical items from their personal shop and check out updates!

    Features so far;

    Early Game Concept Art, PuffPals: Island Skies Map
    • Adorable and unique creatures and bugs.
    • Will be available on PC and Switch!
    • Silly dialogue!
    • Chibi-type player character design, with dozens of cute features!
    • Extensive decorating mechanics and thousands of collectable furniture items.
    • Super cute missions and side quests!
    • Giant froggy!! (had to mention this because I love frogs and the moment I saw it I knew I needed the game lol!)
    • Farming is so relaxing and fulfilling (also some of the crops you harvest have adorable faces lol!)
    • The animals make cute footstep sounds when they walk.
    • Beautifully rendered environment and music!
    • A true cozy game, unlike any previously released game!
    • Seasons come and go, changing up the environment as well!

    Next up on the list is;

    Diablo IV

    Considering how good the third installment was, I think they actually did a fairly great job on Diablo four. There's a good bit of change to the mechanics, but they also made the gameplay far more immersive and easier for me to keep up with. Sometimes in the previous games, I felt like I was playing a boring MMO with how much talking the NPCs did. There's still plenty of story but I feel like I'm not as impatient and able to enjoy the dialogue...Perhaps the writers did just a really good job? I think the story immersion is fantastic.

    The combat and skill tree system is pretty easy to understand, too. I found myself relieved by that, despite some of the changes they made. Choose between barbarian, druid, necromancer, rogue, or sorcerer, and customize them to your liking!

    Noteworthy aspects;

    • Open world
    • Extensive skill tree and paragon boards
    • Unique gear crafting modifications
    • Can receive bonuses through extracting certain gear
    • Challenging World bosses, that you have to beat in multiple stages, (up to 12 players can participate) chances of dropping awesome unique items and legendary loot
    • Over 120 dungeons to explore!
    • PVP and Multiplayer modes
    • Collectable mounts that you can adorn with customizable trophies and armours you can collect throughout the game. (you'll have to unlock the mount feature through story mode first!)
    • Character customization is much different than the previous titles, with thousands of different combinations for each class.
    • Sickeningly good graphics, character designs, and models are phenomenal.

    Legend Of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

    This is probably obvious for many but I still felt I had to put it on the list. Legend of Zelda is an amazing game series, and I have loved almost every title I've ever played, including this one. This is the sequel to Breath Of The Wild.

    Many of the characters were brought back, and we got to see more of their backstory as well as growth and development, especially with major characters like Princess Zelda!

    Awesome stuff ;

    This is a video showing off the minecart hammer I made! So funny, and it's pretty powerful in early game.

  • Use Link’s powerful new abilities like Ultra hand and Fuse to make awesome weapons (like the one above) and craft an abundance of variable mechanisms to help Link travel across the landscape.
  • Collect rare ingredients and get cooking to make some status relieving or aiding recipes!
  • The Ascend ability can help Link to dive through solid objects, like cliffs, ceiling and platforms above him!
  • Recall is another useful skill that allows you to reverse the motion of objects and mechanisms.
  • Help all the villages and kingdoms reclaim their land by progressing through the story, fighting off the Gloom, or finishing dungeons and shrines.
  • There are three different levels to the Hyrule map; The surface, the sky Islands, and the Depths where the Gloom is most prevalent.
  • There are an abundance of games I'd love to play before 2023 ends, and more to be released next year, like the Silent Hill 2 Remake! (That one I'm most excited for!)
