"Making the most of unexpected moments and turning a Monday into a Small Sunday." Billy and Friends Once upon a time, there was a small town where Sundays were sacred. It was a day for rest, relaxation, and spending time with family and friends. However, one Sunday, something unusual happened. The sun rose, but it wasn't Sunday. It was Monday!

Rosie J. SargentPublished 12 months ago in FYIWhat is an Epistolary?
I woke up this morning to my delight and I see a new challenge - epistolary. Epstoilaries are one of my favourite forms of novels. I was first introduced to them during my time in sixth-form education. It was a Gothic Literature class and of course, we studied great classics such as Bram Stocker's Dracula (1897) and Mary Shelley's Frankenstein (1818). What they have in common as well as their genres are their very form.
Rosie J. SargentPublished about a year ago in FYIThe Gender-Delineated "Ad Age"
We have established that AI chat tools are a helpful place to begin, but not end, casual research into a topic. Asking ChatGPT for an overview on magazine advertisements in the 1970s revealed a path of questioning about gender roles in mass media. While the written responses did not provide nuance around gender identity and nonbinary readers, it did provide a place to start on this research inquiry. It will be difficult to contine with the resources offered, however, because ChatGPT provided either dead-end links or links to irrelevant articles for further reading.
The Secret to Stopping Lunch Thieves
The ‘watching-eye effect’, also called the Hawthorne effect, is a powerful tool that you’ve likely seen in action without even realizing it. This principle is widely used in public spaces and you can harness it's impact on your own life... right down to protecting your lunch from the slippery lunch thief.

What is Passover?! Passover is a Jewish holiday that commemorates the liberation and evacuation of the Jewish slaves from Egypt, during the monarchy of the Pharaoh Ramses II. Prior to the ancient Jews escaping Egypt, their firstborn children were passed over and spared from death. That where the name "Passover" comes from.

You may think of a beautiful singing voice, a smooth jazz melody, or a babbling brook. This word is often used to describe something pleasant to the ears.
People! Just say Something!Published about a year ago in FYIPornography and Free Speech: The 1970s Debate and Its Impact Today
This is a further exploration of how ChatGPT recaps and analyzes complex historic threads. Putting the tool to the test through the thorny history of debates surrounding pornography in the 1970s displays the successes and drawbacks of the tool. While it provides a helpful primer, AI makes overt missteps a human might not, such as identifying Andrea Dworkin as "pro-pornography" when she was in fact a creator of the Antipornography Civil Rights Ordinance. The lack of nuance and reference to primary sources means I do not predict a history teacher will mistake this for student work anytime soon.
The Importance of Popular Culture Archives - According to AI
For those who have experienced archives, whether during a history course in school or in trying to track down a "lost" episode of their favorite tv show, the word renders thoughts of magic and wonder...or just yellowing pages. Archivists continuously work to bring awareness to the materials they steward, connecting collections with users who make preservation worthwile. It is a difficult task that requires constant ingenuity.
