Ahowan ICrowPublished 3 years ago in FYIWhat a Posse of Hawai'ian Gods Can Teach Us About Psychology
The fields of mindfulness and embodiment have become hot-beds for psychology research and practice in the past few years, but as with so many of these things, they are rooted in ancient wisdom. It sometimes feels to me like the modern world is playing catch-up.

The April Calendar of Celebrations, Part One
Spring is here, hopefully, and the world is beginning to emerge from more than a year of lockdowns, shutdowns and states-of-emergency. Our freedom and safety might still be fragile but the time is starting to feel right for a celebration...or thirty.
TheSpinstressPublished 3 years ago in FYI The One with All the Fun Facts
I've pretty much watched Friends about a million times. It's fun, it's relatable, it's somewhat raw and it's a no brainer for when you're having a really sucky day and it just feels like: "Damn, no one ever tells you life is going to be that way." But I've found it to be somewhat educational and helpful, too. Some of these might gross you out but some will just make you question everything you ever thought you knew. These are the top three fun facts I've learned from watching Friends.
The World is in your words
The English language is a thief. Well maybe that is a little harsh. The English language shamelessly ‘borrows’ words, phrases and sayings from other languages with absolutely no intention of ever giving them back. It has been doing this from its first utterances, this may be because the Language itself evolved due to invasions, immigration and conquests of the British peoples.

It was a sunny fall day in October 1923, an automobile chugs down a dirt road moving at a steady pace. At the same time a horse driven coach is headed towards the automobile from the right side. The automobile and the horse drawn coach collide causing a horrible accident at a corner intersection. At the intersection the horse is killed instantly, the car is damaged and it won’t crank, the carriage is turned over and people are injured, and stuff from the coach is scattered across the road. It took days to clean up after the accident. A witness to this accident was greatly grieved and very upset, he decided something had to be done. He pondered over the accident and why it happened and how this tragedy could not happen again.

Here’s your reminder that international wig day was the 10th of March and you missed it, yet again. A lot of you probably have no idea that this particular day in the calendar is reserved to wigs. International wig day is not just for the sake of wearing wigs and it’s probably not that famous because it’s been an international celebration since 2016, only 5 years ago!

If someone on the street asked you about Bosco Ramos, the name most likely wouldn’t ring a bell. If you lived in Sunol, California in the 80’s, you’d have a better chance of recognizing the name since Ramos was the mayor of the aforementioned town. In fact, he was elected in 1981 and was in office until his death in 1994. While this might be a singular occurrence, it probably wouldn’t be the craziest event in American history. I could go on to tell you all about the absurd experiences America has had to live throughout its years like how they ended up capturing the island of Guam or the amazingly destructive life of Thomas Midgley Jr., but I’ll let you discover those stories on your own.
Save the vultures. Respect the cows.

The Mystery of Accents Why do some accents stick and some disappear? As we are all aware, languages all have their own unique sounds which are created by how the tongue, mouth and sometimes the throat interacts with the breath.
