Fifty Artists Face Homelessness Days Before Christmas Due to Property Owner Negligence
What first seemed like a dream come true has turned into a nightmare for over fifty artists who came to Los Angeles from across the country to pursue their dreams. They were promised comfortable housing including utilities; along with a recording studio, dance studio, and self tape room; family dinners and artist enrichment activities; and regular cleaning services. Upon arrival, tenants of UP(st)ART Creative Living learned a harsh truth that those promises were merely a facade. Amid a global pandemic and record breaking rates of homelessness across the city, these hopeful artists were met with atrocious conditions and false promises, and are now living with no power or water and are facing the threat of spending Christmas unhoused.

I will listen to my body signals and obey in the New Year
A New Year will soon be upon us and I decided long ago to not make resolutions that I could not carry out. This year my goal is simple and it is to take blocks of time when possible in order for my body to refresh itself. I might take a nap, or sit with my feet up. I may watch a movie and make sure I do not get up during the entirety of the film. Another option is to read a book for a solid hour without being disturbed.

A Service Dog Without Its Owner Could Mean The Owner is in Danger
Dogs are faithful companions. My family and I have 5 of them and they are as much a part of the family as one can be. Faithful to the core, they are playful, protective, communicative and keep us humans on our toes. They are not without maintenance. I think nothing of the money spent on specialized dog food, vet bills and dog toys. They are living intelligent beings and deserve the best in love and support we can provide.

Racial history is evolving through ballet
Ballerino: Not what you may have been told Ballerino is an Italian term for a male Ballerina who dances in a major role. When I was a young girl in the 1960s and a teenager in the 1970s men who danced ballet were called "sissy's" which was a code word for being effeminate. I once was at a doctor's office and the little boy I was babysitting began dancing and a receptionist said he had great moves, I replied that perhaps he might one day perform ballet. She made a face and said she hoped he would do something more masculine.

10 Bizarre Rules The First Family Must Follow
1. They Can’t Open any Windows The first family is forbidden from opening windows. It includes the ones in the White House and cars. For eternity, be it spring or summer, all windows are closed. Former First Lady Michelle Obama once told a reporter, “I want to do little things like, you know, open a window,” as she was anticipating the end of her husband’s term. Very rarely, the secret service lets the first family open their windows for a very short time.

Iceland Mandates Successful Offline Self-Discovery Programs to Solve Teens’ Problems
Sometimes, I’m sure we may still wonder how we ever survived the hazards of being a teenager ourselves. Even without the internet, how many of our own stories can tell about growing up, tolerating high risks, following our own rules to discover our brand of independence. It’s the nature of the adolescent brain to function more with emotional reactions until more logical thinking patterns develop in the neocortex by the age of 20 plus.
