Fifty Artists Face Homelessness Days Before Christmas Due to Property Owner Negligence
What first seemed like a dream come true has turned into a nightmare for over fifty artists who came to Los Angeles from across the country to pursue their dreams. They were promised comfortable housing including utilities; along with a recording studio, dance studio, and self tape room; family dinners and artist enrichment activities; and regular cleaning services. Upon arrival, tenants of UP(st)ART Creative Living learned a harsh truth that those promises were merely a facade. Amid a global pandemic and record breaking rates of homelessness across the city, these hopeful artists were met with atrocious conditions and false promises, and are now living with no power or water and are facing the threat of spending Christmas unhoused.

The Cold Tile Floor
She couldn’t believe he was actually gone. As she walked back into the home they’d shared for four years, she was flooded with memories. It was his house, but it was almost completely bare when she moved in, so she was the one who decorated and made it feel like a home. He had worked as a police officer for 22 years and was close to retirement. For the last eight years, he’d trained every new cop in their small town. They were completely infatuated with each other, and every moment felt like the stuff of fairy tales.

Moving My Big Body and How You Can Move Joyfully
Looking at yoga and movement hashtags on social media, you’re sure to find lots of different body types, but you’ll see the most representation for thin and petit bodies. My body has changed a lot through the last 12 years of my yoga practice, but my body has never fit into the classic Lululemon aesthetic that fills the pages of Instagram. Even when I was strictly dieting and working out vigorously for hours a day, my body was curvaceous and supple. Through injury and mental illness, my body has grown larger to protect me, and for that, I am so thankful.

Ted Lassoed My Heart (And I Don't Care Who Knows It)
The Super Bowl is coming up. Want to know how I know? My book club is choosing a date for our next meeting, and the organizer mentioned that we can't meet on February 7th because that is the day of the Super Bowl. My first thought was, 'wait, the Super Bowl is still a thing?' closely followed by my admission that, of course, it’s still a thing. Lots of people love sports and sports games. In case I'm not making it clear, I am not one of those people.
