Refined Russian Propaganda
Author's note: I came across this document accidentally on Facebook when a colleague published it as an example of new effort to develop modern ideology for Russia. Despite the fact that the country is still at war with Ukraine (it is never mentioned in the document), the Russian ideologues feel that they need a new program for keeping the country from falling apart. It is a long marvelous document that I could summarize as "Something old, something new, but nothing true." I do not expect anyone to read it in its entirety, as it is probably extremely boring for people who are not specialists in propaganda and rhetoric. But I'll just leave it here for public reference. The original publication in Russian starts on p.18 at this link

The Most Difficult Language I Have Ever Studied
I like to tell people that I learn languages for a living. This is neither a joke nor an exaggeration, as I work as a linguist and content creator for a London-based company called uTalk, and we make language learning apps for all types of devices. If you’ve ever flown Turkish Airlines and stumbled upon a page to learn Turkish while you were browsing the movie screen on the back of the seat in front of you, then yes, you’ve seen our work.

Why Pennies Cost More to Make
For something worth just one cent, the humble penny has sparked a surprisingly big debate. For years, economists, policymakers, and everyday consumers have questioned whether it still makes sense to produce a coin that often costs more to manufacture than it’s actually worth. With rising production costs and shifting payment habits, the future of the penny looks increasingly uncertain—and in many places, it’s already been phased out.

The Powell Memo Might As Well Have Been The Powell Prophecy
President Richard Nixon once nominated a man named Lewis Powell, who was a successful corporate lawyer and member of the board of 11 companies, to the Supreme Court. But, two months before that, Lewis Powell would author something that would serve as a historical document explaining much of today. That document would go onto be called the Powell Memo, also known as the Powell Manifesto.

What If the Deadliest Terror Plot in History Had Actually Worked?
There are moments in history that feel like turning points—events so massive they redefine everything that comes after. For many Americans, the September 11 attacks stand at the center of that shift. But what if that moment wasn’t the worst-case scenario?
