Pluto is in Aquarius

But Mercury is not yet in Gatorade...

Pluto is a dwarf planet with a slow moving orbit, but it packs an extremely powerful punch. As an outer planet, it attends to collective issues impacting society. Whenever Pluto enters a new sign, we know that massive and permanent structural transformations are about to unfold for the entire collective. Pluto will also have unique implications for each individual dpeending on the person’s other placements and circumstances. That being said, none of us can escape the powers of Pluto, and there will be tranformation-whether you like it or not.

The changes Pluto brings are very gradual, the type that you hardly notice on the day-to-day. But a gradual or slow-moving change DOES NOT mean an insignificant change. Quite the opposite. Pluto always brings MASSIVE destruction, transformation, forced evolution, resilience and rebirth. While Pluto is a gradual experience, it is absolutely not going to be relaxing or calm. These types of changes are always difficult to go through. After death, there is always rebirth. Pluto is a test, and you can meet this test with resilience, hope, and faith that you will get through the changes and come out better the other side. You can also be very resistant, kicking and screaming the whole time. Most human beings do a combination of both, so don’t worry too much about your “mark.” We are being graded collectively as much as we are being graded individually.

Pluto moves slowly, spending 14-30 years in each sign. Let’s talk about where we just came from, and where we are headed.

On January 25, 2008, Pluto entered the sign of Capricorn.

Capricorn rules over, among other things:

-Ambition and career-the height of achievement and progress

-Authority and leadership-the institutions and structures that make up society-whether they are helpful or oppressive.

-Structure, discipline, order

-Tradition and conventions

-Responsibility and duty

-Maturity and wisdom

On September 15, 2008, Lehman Brothers collapsed, accelerating a financial collapse that was already underway and kicking off “the great recession.” On March 24, 2009, Citizens United was passed by the US supreme court. Citizens United will go down in history as a corporate coup, where imperialistic multinational corporations were given more rights than the average citizen. This seriously diminished people power left things very unbalanced.

It’s important to point out that things that are out of balance cannot remain that way forever. The universe always eventually forces a correction if a situation is out of balance.

Pluto in Capricorn can best be described as Neoliberalism’s gradual and uncomfortable transformation into financialization, corporate surveillance and authoritarian fascism. As a result of Pluto in Capricorn, the two types of fascism available to us currently are normal fascism, where minority rights are given lip service, and full blown mask off reactionary Christian fundamentalist white supremacist fascism. It’s no coincidence that Trump became president towards the end of Pluto in Capricorn. I believe that Trump will be looked at in history as a mirror, merely a grotesque reflection of the existing greed, colonialism, capitalism, and oppression that already made up society. Pluto blew up these problems so that they were so big that they were impossible for the 99% to ignore.

Pluto is in Aquarius right now, but keep in mind that Pluto will enter Capricorn for one last uncomfortable time (checks notes) right around election season in the US.

Great.

(This final push of Pluto in Capricorn will just last for a few weeks. )

After that, Pluto will chill in Aquarius until January 2044, so let’s talk about what that will look like. We are already seeing these changes unfold.

Aquarius rules over:

-Scientific/technological innovation and progress

-Humanity and humanitarianism

-Friendship, social networks, community

-Individuality and freedom

-Eccentricity, new ways of doing things

All of these energies will be most welcome after the stagnant decay of Pluto in Capricorn. Keep in mind that these changes are gradual and that it usually gets worse before it gets better. The 99% were starting to get an awareness that our systems were broken in 2008, but 2016, 2020 and beyond left them no doubt. The energy gets louder with the passage of time and we usually make mistakes before we find the right path.

Themes to focus on for Pluto in Aquarius:

AI is a tool. It can be used to help or to harm. It learns what we teach it.

Stay attuned to latest scientific developments

Remember that all that isn’t serving us will fall away. Only the things that nourish us will remain. This is true collectively AND individually!

Become politically involved. Use your voice. But focus on your LOCAL COMMUNITIES. The power differential is likely to swing back towards the people, but people are not infallible and still have a lot to learn, so polarization could increase before it decreases and we all learn to fix our world.

The power brokers who brought us Pluto in Capricorn will not be able to save us during Pluto in Aquarius. How can we collectively develop skills to meet this moment? The future is in our hands.
