For The TB Challenge
From Creators We're Loving On Vocal
This is a challenge set up by Judey Kalchik to review two random Vocal Stories from the Vocal Creators we love panel on the Vocal Home Page. You can check the challenge here.
A Mom's Guide to Playing Fortnite With Your Kids by Laura Semple

This is Laura’s first Vocal story, which was posted four months ago so I am not sure she is still active.
The story is a well=written journey through playing the game “Fortnite” with your kids. I don’t know and will never play the game but Laura’s well-structured story gives a good introduction to what the game of “Fortnite” entails, its relationships with similar games, and the attractions that it has for players.
She makes good use of images in her story so you are not just hit with a wall of text, you get some of the brightness that helps sell the game.
She then articulates whether it is suitable for children, given the “Battle Royale” overall scenario for the game with options for keeping your kids safe online in multiplayer scenarios. Laura has sometimes been the target of some of the less salubrious online communities.
Laura then talks about the best way to find a relaxing way to practice. Her writing is easy to read and I am sure Fortnite gamers will take her ideas onboard to help themselves with their game. There are different game modes and although it is free to play you can get add-ons which do cost you money.
Everything is detailed in her excellent, very readable article.
Surfing Bipolar. Note #4 by Varvara
Click on the heading to read the story or visit the author
Many of my friends are BiPolar so the story by Varvara caught my eye when I clicked on her profile, it is one of a series but is also in support of Ukraine, so that caught my eye as well.
The images are mostly surf related and all are credited along with an editor on the article.
There are also links to related sites to help people at the end.
Although it is long, it is well laid out and informative concentrating on the concept of Wipeouts in life that can completely crash down on you. These can happen to people like me, so to someone who is BiPolar, this could be an absolutely hellish trauma to deal with. Below is a quote from the article detailing what wiping out is.
The act or an instance of wiping out:
complete or utter destruction.
a fall or crash caused usually by losing control
a total or decisive defeat
Varvara gives the War in Ukraine as a huge example of a WipeOut scenario.
The article goes on to expand on life and surfing wipeouts and these keep you interested and wanting to find out more about both scenarios and Varvars gives plenty of those, leaving you in no doubt as to the effect these things can have on the lives of people.
This is probably more of a technical article while Laura's is more like diary entry.
Conclusion on these two articles
Both these articles were informative, and interesting easy reads. They contained images that improved the readability and most of all made me think about what I had read.
I enjoyed reading them and they will stick in my mind to recommend to anyone who may be interested in these subjects.
I suggest you actually check them out even if you may think you are not interested in the subjects because the standard of writing in both is worth some of your time.
