I am proud to say that I believe Star Wars is the greatest movie franchise of all time. My dad got me into it when I was around 13–14 years old and I was hooked, I watched all 6 movies starting with a New Hope and ending it at Revenge of The Sith.

I have been in love with Star Wars for almost a decade now and have definitely come across some annoying characters to make up for the best ones. I'm sure most of you will agree with this list but here's a disclaimer:

This is my personal opinion only, if you disagree with something let me know why in the responses below, I would love to connect with other big Star Wars fans.

Now we all know Star Wars is far from perfect just like any movie franchise. It's had its brutal movies, awful scriptwriting, and cringe moments but I'm always going to love Star Wars no matter what Disney tries to pull next.

Without further ado, here is my list for the top 5 most annoying Star Wars characters of all time!

5. Young Anakin

Poor Anakin, he's always been misunderstood even since the Phantom Menace.

We all love Hayden Christenson, his performance in Revenge of The Sith was really something else. I still get goosebumps from the Mustafar scene, That movie is what really got me into the Star Wars series and I still have been to this day almost 10 years later.

However, this Anakin was played by Jake Lloyd, and he was almost as annoying as the movie itself. This 9-year-old actor was given the role of Anakin Skywalker in The Phantom Menace. He put up an annoying whiney performance and was a useless character in the movie, to begin with. The whole pod racing scene was blatant filler for the Darth Maul lightsaber battle which was the only good thing to come out of that whole movie (and Qui-Gon Jinn).

Jake Lloyd faced serious backlash and criticism from his role in The Phantom Menace and was never the same person again. He was just a kid so you can't really blame him, he still performed better than most of the cast from that movie anyway. Facing mockery, he was mentally damaged from all of the insults and criticism he took from the people around him and snapped. He was arrested for assaulting his own mom in 2015 and has since disappeared off the face of Hollywood. Think of the pressure this kid had to face to be only 9 years old in a Star Wars movie playing the part of someone who turns into Darth Vader. Fans have high praise for the character so there were a lot more eyes on Jake than other characters in the movie.

It's unfortunate for Jake Lloyd because it really wasn't his fault. He could've been more charismatic and less whiney but he was only 9 years old, it's hard to expect a Leonardo DiCaprio performance from a kid. The scripting and directing in The Phantom Menace was awful anyway so there was nothing Jake could have done there. Perhaps if he was given a better script and put in a better Star Wars movie, his career could've taken off.

4. Vice Admiral Holdo

When it comes to Vice Admiral Holdo, she's more frustrating than she is annoying. This won't be the last time you see a character from The Last Jedi, my least favorite Star Wars movie of all time.

She's just another prime example of lazy screenwriting. Her only purpose in the movie was to be wrong and criticizing Poe Dameron. After the passing of Princess Leia, someone thought it would be a good idea to have her in charge and it only ended up with Holdo dying because of her own stupidity.

3. C3po

You may be surprised to see C3PO on this list, let me explain…

C3PO was definitely designed to be annoying. Sure he's been around the franchise since the start but he never changes in any movie. All he does is complain, argue with everyone about the odds of something, and say "Oh my!"

When was the last time this protocol droid did anything useful? I've never seen C3PO even kill anyone or help with the plot. He's just there to be annoying and for people to laugh at. I get that he's not supposed to be swinging around lightsabers fighting Darth Vader but the droid literally does nothing but complain. At least R2D2 always did what his orders were and has a couple of kills on his belt.

No wonder Anakin turned to the dark side, I'd turn to the dark side too if I had to tell people that I was the one that created C3PO.

2. Rose Tico

I can't describe how much I hated this character in the sequels. Thank god she was given a smaller role in The Rise of Skywalker because her performance in The Last Jedi was almost as hard to watch as the movie.

I'll never forget when the whole movie theater cringed when Rose saved Fin from sacrificing himself to save the Republic and said to him "We save the ones we love." I remember watching that movie with my dad and after she said that he shook his head and left.

Rose was first introduced in The Last Jedi, I understand the role that Star Wars tried to give her but it did not work out at all. Rose was in the way the whole movie and showed no value other than being with Fin's side chick since Kylo Ren was too busy taking his girl.

Her actor took a lot of abuse from the fans after the release of the movie, and it even forced her to go off social media because of all the criticism she was given. Same as Young Anakin, the directors should have given her a better role and a new script. It also doesn't help that she made her debut in arguably the worst Star Wars movie in the whole franchise.

1. Jar Jar Binks

To be honest, are you really surprised that he's at the number one spot?

Jar Jar Binks is the worst Star Wars character of all time, and he's known for that. George Lucas wanted to make him comedy relief hanging out with a young Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, and Qui Gon Jinn for The Phantom Menace but it only caused fans to hate him even more. Sure, kids and casual fans might have liked him but the real Star Wars fans (including myself) couldn't stand him and his loud obnoxious voice. Jar Jar received so much backlash that he was reduced to a minimal role in Attack Of The Clones and only briefly appeared in Revenge Of The Sith.

But why does Jar Jar always get hated on? What makes him the most annoying Star Wars character in the franchise? Besides the fact that there may be some racism surrounding the character of Jar Jar binks, he was a failed experiment for comedic relief and George Lucas will never make that mistake again. There shouldn't be a character in the Star Wars franchise whose sole purpose is comedic relief, they at least have to have other particular attributes as a way of showing how unique each character is in Star Wars in but unfortunately, Jar Jar had none of that.
