Plato On The Toilet. Runner-Up in Already Here Challenge.
Plato (428-348 BCE) is giant of Western Philosophy, whose words cast a long shadow to the present day, where the study of ethics, ontology, justice, metaphysics and many more fields begin with a chapter on him. His work has shaped the mind of many generations of great thinkers who, in turn, either built upon or criticised his words, but never ignored him. However, these great thinkers have typically fallen into very narrow categories of people, making the study of Plato almost exclusively a pastime for the privileged. This has changed with the invention of the internet, which allows me, some random guy, to read Plato on the toilet, on my phone, when I am meant to be doing my job.

The Hand Of God. Top Story - September 2026. Content Warning.
"National security is not my thing." "I'm not that informed on national security" Imagine, if you will, you wake up and there is a gun pressed to your temple. No matter how you try, it won’t detach. It’s stuck there like some sick modification grafted by some B-grade freakshow horror movie antagonist. You can feel the steel, smell the residue, you know it’s been fired before, know it's loaded, know what terror it might render, yet you’re still alive.

Cassandra Complex
"Some people say a man is made out of mud. A poor man's made out of muscle and blood. Muscle and blood and skin and bone. A mind that's weak and a back that's strong. You load sixteen tons, and what do you get? Another day older and deeper in debt. Saint Peter don't you call me, 'cause I can't go I owe my soul to the company store."
