The Idiotic Tango With "AI"
It's Artificial, It's Not Intelligent

Introduction
This is just some observations about systems probably driven by so called AI that almost always screw up, and then blame you and leave you to pick up the pieces.

At work we are advised to embrace ChatGPT and Copilot. I don't. I use them as tools to point me in a direction if I don't know what I am doing, but I always check out what I am told.
I do not believe the responses from these tools.
So Where Am I And What Is Happening?
There is a site I use, and I am ok with passwords and usernames, but this website gives the option of a fingerprint or six character pin. I am fine with the pin and it makes it simpler and quicker to get into the site.
The what happens is that nothing happens so I have to take the option to log in with a password, but when I do that it assumes I donlt know my password have to reset my password. So I use my password and it tells me I can't reuse my current password, even though I can't log in with it.
So I use a new password. It lets me in and asks me if I want to use a pin for faster access. I say yes and set up my pin once more, and the whole idiot tango starts again.
Today shopping at Morrisons Supermarket I used a Discount Card to buy a Morrisons voucher to pay for my ยฃ10 shop. The card gives me a 3% discount and usually works, but not today, well the discount card worked, it was Morrisons messing up.
I had all my stuff bagged and ready to pay , while I waited and waited for the voucher to appear on my phone. Then it said I had to put in a code that had been sent to my phone to see the voucher. This is the first time this has happened to be, so I key in the number and get this:

The sure verification is already set up, so it had taken my money fr the card, but was not letting me use it.
Now imagine that was my last ten pounds, what could I do? The people in the shop cannot take any action.
Luckily money was not a problem for me so I just paid, but it meant the Morrisons had taken ten pounds of mine and were keeping it. That feels like theft to me. So I thought I would check when I got home and got this response:

So effectively I don't know when or if I am going to get that ten pounds back.

Having said that I have been waiting three months for ten dollars Ambassador payments and four dollars tips from Vocal, but that is a case of Ignorance rather than intelligence. Six emails, not one response.
Conclusion
The thing is if computers and systems are not continually monitored they often fall over, and when they who system is computerised there is no way for it to fix itself, because very often it is just following its flawed instructions.
The customer is always wrong. It was YOU who forgot your password. It was YOU who chose the wrong option. It was YOU who was the failure.
Very often these systems are built because the can be built, not because the should be built.
Humans are the ones who have to fix things and put things right.
That is the only answer I have, and I fix a lot of things.
