After years of speculation, Scottish actor Ewan McGregor finally confirmed that he will be reprising his Star Wars role as Obi-Wan Kenobi for a new Disney Plus TV series that centers around the legendary Jedi.

First made famous by English actor Sir Alec Guinness in the original Star Wars trilogy (1977-1983), the character remains just as popular when McGregor made it his own in the fantasy sci-fi saga’s prequel trilogy (1999-2005), albeit as a younger, more playful but no less wise and skillful Kenobi.

From being a loyal Padawan to Qui-Gon Jinn to becoming Jedi Master to Anakin Skywalker (pre-Darth Vader), and then as mentor to Anakin’s son Luke, Obi-Wan Kenobi is much loved by fans for being a highly skilled warrior who is faithful to the Jedi code and devoted to defending peace in a galaxy far, far away.

The distinguished Jedi, who also go by the name of Ben, is also much cherished for his words of wisdom, as well as the sarcastic quips he often makes at the expense of both friends and foes.

In no order of merit, here are 15 of Obi-Wan Kenobi’s most iconic quotes from the Star Wars cinematic universe.

—to Anakin Skywalker, after reminding his Padawan not to lose his lightsaber in Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones (2002), unwittingly foreshadowing his own death years later at the hands of Anakin’s dark side alter ego.
