The Practical Divine
At the conclusion of the Mahābhārata, an Indian epic about the Kurukṣetra War, tens of thousands are dead and only five brothers from the victorious Pandava clan and their wife—yeah, just the one for all five—survive. When these stories are recited in temples, the spotlight, predictably, is on the religious aspects: how one should live and act in accordance with the tenets of Hinduism. The pundits generally skip over the good bits: the carnage, the violence, and the polyandry, especially the polyandry. I recently read the Mahābhārata and found the book teeming with practical advice.

There was a hand, emerging from the shadows. Slender and grey. And the hand held a small, black, button. Sophie’s heart moved from its usual place, upwards and up, until it tickled at her trachea. And it sat there for a time, like a fat, disgruntled frog.
Kate Gordon of Tarth 🧙🏻♀️Published 5 years ago in FuturismYou Are a God That Believes It Is an Ant
As you read this, I ask you to suspend your disbelief, for it will keep you exactly where you are. If you choose to open your mind to what I am about to say, your life may never be the same. Everything I say you are able to verify and validate through your own experiences and contemplations. Do not believe my words, for all words are fragmented projections of the truth. Instead, let them guide you along your path, and lead you to your bliss. Your bliss is different from mine or anyone else, that is the beauty of being human. When all of humanity follows their bliss, doors will open that we cannot yet see. This is the world I seek by not seeking.

Taurus, Taurus, Taurus. How many times do we have to go OVER this. It is OKAY to feel sad. It is okay to feel, period. I feel like a lot of you have been super focused on your coins, which is great, I understand that all of you take your security seriously and it's looking super great on the finances part, but what about the other parts? Money will not be an issue in July but some people will be and you are going to have to respect and deal with that.
Prof. PersonalPublished 5 years ago in Futurism'Ubik' Review (Spoiler-Free)
Going into reading Ubik, all I knew was that Philip K. Dick was its author and that it was some kind of science fiction. Unlike other editions of the book, the cover of my copy shows not a spray can of the eponymous substance, but a mix of strange, colorful, clipart-y images. I was so ready to get reading what promised to be a mind-bending sci-fi tale.
Lindsey KeeferPublished 5 years ago in FuturismReview of 'The Rook' 1.1
The Rook on Starz starts off with a bunch of familiar premises—someone (in this case, a young woman) wakes up in a dangerous situation with no knowledge of who she is. She gradually learns about her past and situation from a series of helpful messages from her younger self, who knows she's in danger of having her memory wiped. We and she learn that she (Myfanwy is her name) is part of an MI6-type British secret service group. And soon another very different, but also very familiar, trope is revealed: Myfanwy has some kind of super powers—the ability to inflict physical damage on people via her mind—and the MI6 group (Checguy) is somehow all about this.
Paul LevinsonPublished 5 years ago in FuturismNew Frontiers in Bio-Inspired Design
Nature has provided opportunities for scientists to observe patterns in biomaterials which can be imitated when designing construction materials. Materials designed with natural elements can be robust and environment-friendly at the same time. Advances in our understanding of biology and materials science, coupled with the extensive observation of nature, have stimulated the search for better accommodation and compression of materials and the higher organization and reduction of mechanical stress in man-made structures.

G.F. BrynnPublished 5 years ago in FuturismThe Troubling Trajectory of Technological Singularity
Technological singularity refers to the point in time where artificial intelligence surpasses human intelligence, and the troubling trajectory of technological singularity should be something more widely recognized. What happens to humanity after we pass the brink of hyper-intelligent computers is a difficult question to answer.

I feel it already. You guys have had something under wraps for a while now, something good. A lot of you gained an amazing amount of clarity, and actually acknowledged how much you appreciate the people around you, and how this isn’t a “One Man Band” sort of world; we are all connected here.

This training occurred throughout his entire childhood. Simultaneously to his training as a warrior, he learned to help provide food and water for his family. His father was well known for protecting the land against former enemies, while his mother was recognized for her generosity by giving to those who have less.

You guys still being a tough nut to crack? Well I will say with all these mushy Cancer vibes and retrogrades, there will be no way for you to hold back any emotions that you have for someone in particular; good or bad.
