There are numerous anime out there that are based on video games. Castlevania is one of the popular anime that came from a video game. This anime has a total of 4 seasons. Castlevania is one of few anime that has no manga and light novel origin. Most importantly, the game is from Japan whereas the show maker is Netflix. So let's talk about the history of this game. This game was created by Konami. It's the one of the famous video games creator back in the time. Konami created the game around 1987. The game also came in many editions. The story follows Trevor Belmont, Alucard and Sylpha Belnades as they tries to defend the nation of Wallachia from the dracula and his followers.

There is another edition that came in 2005. The name of this edition was "Castlevania: Curse of Darkness". The anime adaptation took some characters and elements from here. Also the story of this edition is available at the beginning of the second season of the anime.

Now let's talk about the creators of this game. As I mentioned before, Konami created this game but the main concept was created by Warren Ellis. He also wrote how the story of the game should go. Later on, Adi Shankar helped him to develop the game. The theme of the game was mainly Drama, Dark Fantasy, Action, adventure and horror. At that point of time, this was one of the most horrific games out there.

Netflix produced the anime. They hired Sam Deats, Adam Seats and Spencer Wan as the directors. Warren Ellis wrote the web series story as well. Trevor Morris was hired as composer. The first episode of the series came on 7th July, 2017. The show just ended on 13th May, 2021. Netflix gave the animation contract to Powerhouse Animation and Mua Films. The first original plan of this game was to bring the the movie. They had a contract with Kevin Kolde and his company Project 51. Later the script and everything was ready. But at the end moment, the contract was cancelled. Later the developer Adi Shankar picked up the overall concept of the movie and contacted Powerhouse Animation Studios. They gladly accepted the idea and started working on the project in 2015. After two years in 2017, the anime series came in Netflix. Soon after that, it became a hit and the studio decided to renew it for second season. No doubt the second season was also a hit. One after another, Castlevania became a hit show on Netflix. But due to lack of the story materials, it ended with 4 seasons.

Plot

He summons an army of demons which overruns the country, causing the people to live lives of fear and distrust. The plot is taken from Wikipedia. You can visit it for further information.

Final Words

Castlevania is a hit Netflix story despite being a part of a video game. The only reason this anime didn't last long is because of the lack of the story. A video has not much stories and twists like manga and light novel. That's why the anime has less epidodes in every seasons. Still it was very popular. Sadly, the story of this anime ended with the fourth Season.
