A Capricorn's Guide To Being A Capricorn

Because, yes your star sign matters.

Astrology and star signs are topics that have been fun and cool to talk about ever since I was a kid. One of the first things you want to know about your crush is: "what's their star sign? are we compatible?" If someone at work is being a tell-tale snake, the joke "I bet they're a Gemini" is always commented.

Without realising it, society has made your star sign a HUGE part of how people perceive you.

Now, as a girl who was born on the 23rd of December, I'm a Capricorn. And personally I think being a Capricorn is great in terms of when my birthday actually is. I LOVE being a December baby because I love getting my birthday and Christmas presents all at once. To me that's the best part.

But, in term of being classed as a Capricorn and all the traits that come with it, I'm worried that I fit my star sign a little bit too perfectly. And it's difficult to admit that.

For those of you who don't know, those who are well into their astrology have decided that Capricorn's are one of the most hated signs (yikes!). And that sucks, but there may be a reason why we're hated...

Here's an example of the traits of a Capricorn:

- Disciplined (read: stubborn and uptight)

- Realistic (read: negative, pessimistic)

- Ambitious (read: all work and no play type of workaholic)

So, am I all doom and gloom that my sign stereotypes suggest? Unfortunately, I think so.

Therefore, here's a Capricorn's guide to being a Capricorn, filling every single stereotype...

Be uptight with money. Never buy yourself anything and sit on money that you don't need to save because you have enough to spend it anyway.

Be uptight with opinions. Be stubborn and never let anyone try to change your mind.

Be "realistic" in situations. Compartmentalize everything and ignore feelings. Use your brain, not your heart.

Be cold towards love ones so you can protect your feelings.

Be working all the time. You can never stop because your expectations of yourself are so high that you can't disappoint yourself.

Be overambitious. Then feel the pain of failures at an extreme level.

Be all work and no play. PROMISE?

OKAY HOLD UP. I'M JOKING! DON'T DO THAT!

Sometimes, as I Capricorn, I can be like that. And I'm ashamed to admit that. And if you resonate with that, I'm sorry. Why are we like this?!

BUT, I want to teach you how to be a good Capricorn. I am a Capricorn Sun, Cancer Moon and Scorpio Rising type of Capricorn and I have some hella good traits that you all need to know about.

Here are some traits of a Capricorn that you might not have realised exist!

Capricorns value their relationships and heavily invest in people they trust and care about. They want authentic connections that will lead to deep and meaningful bonds

Capricorns can be sensitive and considerate and do their best to resolve issues so things run smoothly for themselves and others.

Capricorns are queens of self-care. They know there is no-one like themselves and their independence helps create goals and values that help them become the best versions of themselves.

Capricorns are visionary. They are creative and intuitive and will delve deep into their passions.

And that is how you be a Capricorn. You take the bad stuff with a grain of salt and work on the good things. Life can be hard to keep the balance, but if you try hard enough then you'll find that being a Capricorn is pretty great!

Stay safe out there, and go read your weekly horoscopes!
