How sexuality plays into the feminist movement.
Pam Grier's Best Blaxploitation Films
She is the original blaxploitation queen. Part of a small group of women who defined the genre. They set the tone for much of African American urban cinema in the 1960 and 1970s. Pam Grier has been steaming up the screen for decades. After blaxploitation went out of style and urban African American culture moved beyond stereotypes, she starred in defining roles like Steven Seagal's 1988 classic action film Above the Law, Quentin Tarantino's homage to blaxploitation; Jackie Brown, and then re-defined herself on Showtime's ground breaking The L word. It is hard to find groundbreaking women like Pam in the saturated world of contemporary pop icons. The juxtaposition of her blaxploitation rolls during a critical decade for women and the civil rights movement make her a career a unique example of the fundamental changes in Hollywood for women and minorities.

Lover? Boyfriend? Par amour? Fiancé? Baby? Dependent? Consort? Sweetheart? Honey? Roommate? If he’s not your husband and you’re living together, he’s your…? You’re his…?
Emily McCayPublished 7 years ago in FilthyDating Rules of Engagement
I was once blind but now I see. Could it really be THAT simple? I talk about “a light going off” all of the time when I teach yoga. That ahhhh - now I get it feeling. And now I get it. I like rules and dating rules of engagement should be no exception. What I have refused to do, be, or become one of those women who play games. But that’s the secret if you want to get married according to All the Rules by Ellen Fein and Sherrie Schneider. They don’t say to lie or be a bitch, you can be you, but you don’t have to give so much so fast. This makes sense. But this is not the epiphany moment for me. A man says he doesn’t like games or bitchy women and this can be perfectly true, but what he fails to tell you (of course he’s not going to make it easy on you, why would he?) is that he wants the chase, the challenge, to win YOU.

More commentary on the accusations of women’s movement leaders that many men still see women almost exclusively as sex objects is part of the ongoing mission of the movement. In Tender Trap, Italian illustrator Marco Biassoni's cartoon series from the late 20th century, the artist calls attention to the wider implications of woman’s view of man’s view of woman.

Since everyone seemed to absorb so much enjoyment from my 'Pornstar Problems’ I thought I would continue the theme. Shortly prior to taking my clothes off on camera, I took my clothes off on stage… and on the laps of strangers. Stripping was my initial introduction into the sex industry, and I have to admit, I fucking loved it. I still miss it. Every time I walk down Shoreditch High Street in East London, I’m filled with sadness that The White Horse, my favourite strip joint to work in, is now closed due to gentrification meaning they could not afford the rent. I am waiting for it to be turned into some sort of snooty elitist hipster pizza place or coffee bar with one solitary table inside, with some off hand, try to be cool reference to how it once was a strip club.
Samantha BentleyPublished 7 years ago in FilthyWho Was Colette?
I had a friend. She was a writer. As an adolescent and through part of her young adulthood, she could imagine herself as clay, as some moldable stuff to which a man's experienced hands would give shape and value. She would write a paper and a professor would see promise, he would make her his assistant. She would be traveling in the south of France. An artist would notice of her at a café and find something unusual in the shape of her face; He would paint her. Of course there would be sex. She would disregard the baggy eyes and puckered flesh of the older man, being thought of as "special" would suffice as an aphrodisiac. They would make an exchange: He would get youth, she would get experience. And after her apprenticeship affair, she would emerge a writer, an artist on her own.
Lizzie BoudoirPublished 7 years ago in FilthyAbsurd Asian Women Relationship Stereotypes
In 1980, interracial marriage was fairly rare in the United States, with only a small percentage of all marriages occurring between people of different races. Nowadays, the intermarriage rate is nearly 15 percent overall, but 29 percent of the interracial marriages are among Asian females. According to studies, when Caucasian men marry Asian women, the couple is twice as likely to both be college educated and will make on average 20 percent more money than a white-white couple. Sociologists talk about all sorts of possible explanations including the desire of Asians to assimilate, the increasing acceptance of interracial marriage, and the sexualization of Asian women as docile and submissive. All these explanations are probably wrong. Research shows many caucasian men attracted to Asian women have a very stereotypical view of dating Asian women. The research further shows that what men tend to do is let there particular needs or desires manifest themselves as perceived stereotypes of women that they are actually just physically attracted to. But these men sure do make Asian women out to sound like the perfect partner for your average Joe.

F-bombs getting dropped left and right. While this one is suitable for television, many people still can’t stand the sound of it: Feminism is experiencing a changing of the guard. It scares the conservative right and fuels the fires of antifeminists like Donald Trump. While it is defined as the advocacy of women’s rights on the grounds of political, social, and economic equality to men, some still think it’s all about man-hating. That couldn’t be further from the truth. These modern day feminists are comprised of teenagers who believe in themselves and the future of young women so much, they are willing to not only to speak up about it but, in one case, to also put themselves in harm’s way for it. Or the men that have not only created more dimensional roles for women, but have also taken to social media to protest the simple rights that men have that women are still fighting for.

Lizzie BoudoirPublished 7 years ago in FilthyHistory of the Word 'Slut'
We all know a long list of insulting ‘four letter words’, some more impactful than others. However, in today’s society, one stands out to have deep social impact with a multitude of meanings; from degrading a woman’s status derived through her sexual life to a generic ‘throw-around’ insult much like any other.
