okay, thought eve as she looked in the mirror. Last date before signing off of Bumble for a month. It will probably be a nothing date. She considered canceling it but that was not like her to cancel a date especially last minute. Eve had chosen a great outfit already and did her make-up, so canceling was already out of the question.

She slipped on her black ankle boots and pulled her keys out, locked the door, double-checked to see if it was locked. Eve got into her dark green Toyota Camry and drove down to the Grill. It was nice that he chose somewhere close to meet up. She parked the car and walked to the grill. She looked around and did not see him anywhere unless if he was that guy wearing a chain necklace, pants lower than they should be, a backward baseball cap...hopefully not him. Eve took her phone out and texted that she had arrived early.

“Sorry, running late will be there five to ten minutes” he responded almost immediately.

At least he was honest, yet she still considered leaving she had enough of letdowns on these dates, she was getting tired of it. She spotted a red car pull up, she could see him fixing his hair in the rearview mirror. He got out of his car.

"Finally!" she thought a guy that looked like his picture. He was much taller than she had anticipated.

"Hi," Eve said first.

"Hey, sorry about being late," he apologized. "Got stuck in a meeting."

"Right, well we should probably grab something before they close," she suggested. He let her lead the way up into the grill.

"Coffee?" he asked her.

"Sure, actually maybe a hot apple cider," she could see him smile from the corner of her eye. "I can't drink too much caffeine otherwise, I start shaking all over the place," Eve laughed nervously and he responded with a contagious laugh. She suddenly wanted to hear him laugh again,

maybe this was not such a bad idea, she thought to herself as she reached over the counter for her cup of hot apple cider.

They walked down by the river and she told him about her day and he laughed at all her jokes and she returned the favor. He did not seem taken aback when she told him about her short time being a party animal or the fact that it took her a while to finish school and figure out her life.

Every time she said anything he seemed intrigued. It has been a while since she genuinely laughed at something that someone had said. They shared almost life stories and discussed topics that would normally be taboo on a first date, yet there seemed to be something there, at last she finally felt something, it was unfamiliar for her to have a warm feeling on a first date. As the date came to a near end she did not want it to end, all she wanted to do was keep talking to him. Eve convinced him to walk her to her car.

"So, I would like to see you again," he said finally.

"I would really like that," she told him. For a minute there she thought about kissing him, but that is not something she would normally do on a first date.

"How do you feel about phone calls?" he asked her.

"Oh, I am open to it," she smiled at him. A guy who would rather call than text? that is a great feeling. It took her by surprise. No man has ever wanted to call over text. She wanted to reach up to him and kiss him, but this was the first date she reminded herself. They stood there awkwardly for a minute.

"Thanks for meeting me, I will see you next time," she said and with that they parted.

Eve got into her green car and drove home. That was one of the best first dates she has been on. Eve entered her room and she played the song " That's my Kind of Night" by Luke Bryan, she collapsed on her bed and smiled to herself as she fell asleep.
