First things first—what exactly is a content creator? It may come as no surprise to you that it’s what it says on the tin; a content creator is someone who creates their own content. This can come in the form of YouTubers, independent filmmakers, writers, and artists. However for this specific article I want to talk about a very specific type of content creator. I want to talk about a sex worker content creator. To aid me in this article I interviewed Lola (not her real name—it’s been changed for safety reasons) who is a sex worker content creator. The following is a transcript of our discussion:

Firstly, can you describe to me exactly what a sex worker content creator is?

A sex worker content creator is a person who uses social media and armature porn video sites to create NSFW [Not Suitable For Work] content. This can include videos, gifs, and pictures. The idea is to sell this content to customers for money.

What options are there for content that customers can buy?

On armature porn video sites, the customers pays to see the video. Anyone can buy it and watch it. Alternatively customers can find us on social media and request personal content. This means we can tailor their content to what gets them going. For example in the video we can moan their name, which is something that you’re unable to get on a public video. It just adds that touch of personality which people really love.

What is a wish list?

A wishlist is a way to buy sex workers things they will need for their content. Sex workers can link you to their wishlist which includes things like dildos, cameras, and lingerie. Customers can buy and send these things to sex workers.

How would customers find you?

The best way to find us is to go on social media such as Tumblr, Instagram, and Twitter, and look through the hashtag #contentcreator. Just hit follow and you’ll be able to stay up to date with our latest news and content.

What sort of prices do you charge?

It depends on the content. I’m just one example but I charge $2 per picture, $4 per gif, $15 per 10 minute video, $30 per 15 minute video, and $45 per 20 minute video. It varies from content creator to content creator. It’s best to be upfront and just send them a message enquiring about the content you’re interested in.

What is your favourite thing about the job?

Honestly, it’s incredibly rewarding when people love your content. It’s made me feel a lot more confident about my body and it’s given me a lot of confidence in everyday life. Plus I’ve met a lot of friends through sex work; I’m in contact with other women, men, and non-binary people who also do this for a living.

What is your least favourite thing about the job?

The same as any job – bad customers. You HAVE to pay sex workers first before you can get your content. The amount of people who try to bully you into giving them a video before they’ve paid is disgusting. Customers can be really rude too. Some fail to realise that I am a person and I deserve respect. The amount of people who try and waste my time (e.g. trying to dirty talk with me) with no intentions of paying is sickening and frustrating. It takes away from attention from customers who are actually willing to pay me for my job.

Lola has asked me to remind you that you must be 18+ to interact with sex workers for business purposes. She has also said that TERFS (so called “Trans Exclusionary Radical Feminists), transphobes, homophobes, racists, minors/supporters, and pedophiles are not welcome in the content creator sex worker community.
