Double. Sided. Dildo… Now that I have your attention, or at least part of it, how about having a discussion surrounding the ins and the outs of how to use a double sided dildo, and perhaps answer some of the other notable questions that have been asked in reference to how to use a double sided dildo. One would probably be remiss if they did not warn the reader that the content of this article is sometimes thought taboo; however, after reading the first three words, and making it to this disclaimer it should be obvious that we are about to embark on a conversation that delves into a deeply sexual discussion. In other words, we are going to discuss having sexual intercourse while utilizing a sex toy, as well as masturbation utilizing a sex toy.

Whom is a double sided dildo intended for? What is a double sided dildo? Why use a double sided dildo? All very important questions; however, if one does not know how to use a double sided dildo those answers would not be very helpful. To get the sexual adventurer started, lets answer the most pressing question; how do you use a double sided dildo? As a disclaimer I would like to point out that although this article seems to focus on heterosexual usage as it relates to a double sided dildo, it is not my intention to exclude members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender community. That being said it would seem redundant if the I specifically discussed these varying groups as they relate to the content. The terms vagina and anus are intended to accommodate all sexual preferences.

Lube, Lube and Lube

An individual must consider several important things before venturing on a double pleasure quest. First, and perhaps the most important, is personal safety. The vagina, as well as the anus (yes these are the orifices being discussed), are generally delicate areas. In other words, do not hurt yourself, or your partner. In order to prevent any possible injury to you or your partner it is advised that individuals practice “The law of lube.” The law of lube is quite simple; lube-lube-more lube. Yes, to answer your question(s), most individuals produce their own natural lubricant; however, a double sided dildo is not necessarily a natural penis. As such, single users, as well as their partners (if one exists) should use sufficient lube. Not only will this ensure maximum pleasure, it will also safeguard against any potential injuries to delicate sexual areas of the human anatomy.

It is also important to point out to the user that there are different types of lube. Water based lubes are sufficient for vaginal penetration; however, there are separate lubes specifically designed for anal penetration, and care should be taken to utilize proper types of lube. This is intended to be an orgasmic experience, not an emergency room visit. Do not be afraid to ask questions concerning the matter, the answers to these questions will ensure a safe and enjoyable experience. Before moving on it is also important to note that partners who are using the dildo for vaginal/anal penetration should not use the anal end of the dildo in the vagina before proper cleaning.

Different Shapes

Now that the vagina and the anus have been properly lubed and protected, let us move onto the most common types of double sided dildos. The first, and perhaps most common type, are generally referred to as a “crescent.” Simply put, it looks like a synthetic rubber penis with two heads in the shape of a “U.” This style of dildo is thought to promote more physical closeness between partners, and is arguably easier to use. By inserting one end of the dildo into the vagina the remaining portion, or synthetic penis shaft and head will very much be positioned to resemble an attached male penis, in so much as the position and trajectory is concerned. This is especially useful in the missionary position, and can facilitate a certain level of intimacy between partners. It is important to note that double sided dildo, especially the crescent, are also excellent for solo use. In solo play, the unused portion of the crescent dildo also serves as an excellent “handle” to grasp the dildo during masturbation.

Double sided dildos also come in a straight/flexible style. This style can be used in much the same way as a crescent shaped dildo; however, requires a little bit more mobility and experimentation. This style of dildo offers a lot of flexibility, and with that flexibility, an unlimited number of adventures for both single and solo use. If using this style of dildo with a partner, there are many factors to address. What position works best? What sort of stimulation is being sought, and for whom? The answers to these questions will differ for separate individuals; however, it is important to remember that experimentation ensures the best results.

Having covered the essentials, and the basics surrounding double sided dildos, the time has come to give a tutorial, though technical in nature, it is an important element, and as such needs to be discussed. Proper lube has been purchased and applied. Careful selection of the proper tool(s) has been completed. So, how do you use the dildo? The following will discuss solo play, as well as couple play consecutively.

Solo Play Tips

  • Foreplay is suggested (play with yourself first), as always; this ensures natural lubrication, and also facilitates a certain level of comfort and dissuades certain elements of anxiety that the user may have.
  • Apply desired amount(s) of lubrication.
  • Insert the dildo gently, into your vagina or anus. Experimentation is crucial during this initial usage.
  • Become familiar with the dildo, experiment with its usage, and determine what feels good and what does not (this is especially important in couple play).
  • If you are wanting to experience double penetration (anal and vaginal), slowly insert the remaining end of the dildo into your vagina or anus. Be sure to use plenty of lube, as the anus does not generally produce copious amounts of natural lubrication.
  • Again, take your time, and experiment with this experience. Familiarize yourself with the anal penetration aspect of the dildo. Remember that the anus is not your vagina, and just because it felt good in your vagina, it may not feel good in your anus.
  • Enjoy a safe, gratifying, hopefully orgasmic experience with your new best friend.

Couple Play Tips

  • Foreplay is again recommended.
  • Utilize the period of foreplay to communicate each partner’s desires. Communication throughout this entire process is essential.
  • Ensure that proper lubrication has been applied.
  • One partner or both can insert the desired end of the dildo into the desired orifice, depending on specific desires. Remember, this is not a race, and being gentle, especially with anal penetration is encouraged.
  • Experiment, and determine what each partner likes, or does not like. Take your time, ask questions, and keep an open line of communication.
  • Utilize the various positions available; for instance, try sitting face-to-face with your legs open or bend over and use the dildo back-to-back.
  • There are countless positions that can be utilized whilst using a double sided dildo.

Experiment With New Positions

Whether or not an individual is masturbating or engaging in sexual intercourse with a partner, there are certain rules that still apply. First is foreplay. Face it, there are few positive sexual experiences that are facilitated without some form of foreplay. Secondly, there is often nothing more frustrating than poor rhythm. Yes, rhythm; a sexual experience is a lot like a dance, and let’s face it, a dancer without rhythm is not a very good partner, and few individuals, if any, will want to dance with an individual who has poor rhythm. Thirdly, learn to use your words (even if talking to yourself). Although dildos provide an individual(s) with the ability to achieve sexual pleaser in a faux manner, they do not offer supernatural mind reading powers. In other words, your partner cannot read your mind. Tell them what you like, what you do not like, and encourage them when and where it is needed.

It is evident that an individual could likely run the ink well dry, giving instructions on the proper usage of a double sided dildo, or any dildo for that matter. However, as are all things sexual, different individuals enjoy different things when it comes to what satisfies them sexually. The most important thing(s) to remember in any new sexual endeavor are safety, comfort, and communication. A double sided dildo offers many new and fascinating experiences for both solo play, as well as couple play, and with proper precautions, and communication, comfort can be achieved. With comfort comes satisfaction, with satisfaction comes orgasms, and with orgasms come very happy participants. Embrace and enjoy these new experiences.
