Frolicon

The kinky convention

In this post we will talking about what Frolicon is and sharing some of what goes on there. I really don't want to share stories because there is some privacy that needs to be respected. Frolicon is celebrating its 15th year in 2020. There will be some tips for a good Frolicon at the end of this post. Hope you enjoy!

So what is Frolicon? Think dragon con with a kinky twist. It's a sex positive event. Frolicon focus on LGBT+, erotica, SCIFI, photography, dance, polyamory, psychology and much more. It also involves everything including kink, gaming, burlesque, music, costuming and much more. Frolicon celebrates these things through venders, parties, performances, panels and forums/classes. Some of the classes may be vanilla in nature like massage techniques. They also have a dungeon where people can play and use equipment. The daytime is mainly classes and panels (you can also visit the dungeon during the day) but at night there are parties and the dungeon.

I will say this for newbies to the lifestyle events and other things like Frolicon: it may be too much. Frolicon weekend is full submersion, so people can get overwhelmed, especially if they aren't ready.

I visited a friend there once and honestly the people are so friendly and fun. They are so welcoming and open-minded. It seems like more people were going to the parties and the dungeon then anything else. There were also a lot of people at the pool and hot tub and also drinking at the bar in the hotel by the pool. It had the break from the norm vibe of a vacation with the friendliness of a reunion but with excitement and party energy. Now I heard people have complaints about Frolicon. The main thing I heard was the staff kept changing the rules or editing the existing rules. I know of one instance where it overwhelmed someone probably because they weren't ready. Some of the panels and classes aren't what people expected or they are presented in a way people didn't expect.

People wear costumes and hold room parties. All room parties have to be run by the people who run Frolicon, but of course you can have a small get-together in your room with out running it by them first. Make sure if you drink to have alcohol in your room, but be safe about it. They have dark room parties where it's all in the dark and everything can and does happen. There's also a dance competition called "dance your pants off". It can turn into a strip tease.

People wonder why there is convention like this. Well there are a few reasons that people should understand, because most of them are common sense. The first is making friends and networking. The lifestyle is a lonely place because there are just a few people you can talk to and trust with this type of stuff. The other is learning from others, classes and panels. It is possible to not know everything, especially in this lifestyle. It is also fun to go to events like this. Adults want to let off steam every so often. It's also nice not to have to hold your freak in, you can let loose and be a freak. A few people used the phrase "let your freak flag fly," which is accurate for this weekend.

So here are some tips for the weekend. Don't stay drunk the whole weekend, and if you are drunk, then it may not be a good time to play, especially with someone new. Remember no means no and it is okay to say no. Negotiate what you'd like to have happen during a scene or play session even if it's a one-time thing. If you can, have a friend go with you or have a friend meet you there. Remember to have fun and let loose. If you get overwhelmed, find somewhere to calm down. If you don't know something, ask. Don't jump into a scene or play session unless you are asked to.

I would like to go back and experience all that it has to offer. Tips and money from views will help me get there. So if you'd like to help me get there, then view and share my stuff and also tip; anything can and will help. When I go I will write about my experience while respecting everyone's privacy (of course). If you have gone and would like to talk email me ([email protected]).
