Blood-shot eyes stuck on the clock. Two minutes inched by. Sixty seconds left.

The weight of poor decisions hung like a yoke around her neck. Nausea and nerves her constant companion for days.

Had it only been seventy-two hours since she'd noticed?

The blaring of the alarm had her stomach rolling. Time to check.

Oh.

Hey Josh, it's Meg. We need to talk...

Two blue lines stood out in stark relief against the white of the test. Against the white of the trash bag. Against the white lie that it can't happen the first time.

A mother at sixteen.

Poor decisions? I don't know. Sometimes it does turn out for the better. However, the responsibility ramps up ten-fold and keeps increasing. Yet, it's weird since as humans grow up from infancy, there's certain responsibilities that get exchanged; such as locomotion, nourishment, hiding for self-preservation, etc. Still, I wonder if there was like a condom or anything used at all in this instance. Besides that I know that a lot of people consider "anything outside" to not be sex and label it as foreplay, but even with people's definition of "foreplay" things tend to get dicey.

    Phenomenal!

  • Oooooo...! I did a wedding for a lovely couple who had this experience, a bit closer to 18. With their permission I preached a sermon on how this child was going to be such an incredible blessing in their life, but how at the same time their lives just got a lot harder. Fortunately, both of their families were incredibly loving & supportive. Both went on to graduate college & have been successful. And they love all their children desperately. Still, they wish they would have waited a little longer for such a blessing.
