The Fae of Blue Bay
‘There weren’t always dragons in the Valley.’ Her words echoed inside my mind that were nearly drowned out by the sounds of the low groans of a great beast rose through the valley. The size of the beast made me realize the possibility that the mountains around us could be more of them.

Dracae
There weren’t always dragons in the valley. There was a time when dragons were considered creatures of myth, mystical beings from fairytales and folklore. When dragons came down from their hiding place in the mountains, they knew they were in danger. Dragons were mighty beings, but if one knew their secrets, the dragons became prey, rather than predator. So they swore fealty to the king, promising they’d fight for him and his bloodline as long as the king’s bloodline was on the throne. In return, the king swore that as long as his bloodline had the dragons’ loyalty, they were safe from harm. The promise was then sealed on a bloodstone, which has remained under constant guard in the bowels of the king’s castle. Those dragons that remained in the valley took their human form. They became known as the dracae and so it has remained for over a thousand years.

Avarice
A Note on Dragons There weren't always dragons in the Valley. Most people still don't know that there are. Dragons traditionally keep their lairs way up in the highest peaks of the Mountain, higher than any bird can fly. They choose caverns whose entrances open out to sheer cliff faces, too steep for even goats to climb.

Valley of Dragons
There weren’t always dragons in the Valley. The day they came was bright and sunny, just like any other, and a small horde of people from town gathered near the fairgrounds anxiously awaiting their arrival. The onlookers lined the dusty road watching as a caravan of trucks, trailers, and buses piled into the clearing that would soon be home to The Carnival of Dragons.

The Feline Legendarium
There weren’t always dragons in the valley. There wasn’t any death either. Or even pain. The threads of peace, harmony, and eternal life intertwined here. This was the birthplace of meow, safeguarded by the light. And where the glow of The Great Feline Valley ended, there was emptiness.

The Knight with Doll Eyes
There weren’t always dragons in the Valley. The flowers appeared all at once. I had never seen flowers bloom like this. I was apprehensive of their deep yellow and bright red, like if you could unravel a coral snake. I worried about the toxin.

It Was On The News
"There weren't always dragons in the Valley." What did he say? Dragons? No way! "Well, just listen said hubby. It is a new sports team name. Guess why?" No clue I responded. "It is what is happening all around the country with changing sports teams' names so as not to upset the Indigenous people."

Good Dogs Die Slow
“There weren't always dragons in the valley.” Old Dog knelt down and scratched Luna behind her pointed ears, looking back at the morning's work. Crimson slashed the wilderness over the place he once called home. Speaking the words, to keep him in practice - and on the right side of sane, “There weren't always dragons in the valley. Soon they won't be here again”. Turning away from the morning's violence he left the scent of gore, the soft whimpers of dying men, and scrubbed the ruby splatterings from his face on to his sleeve. Luna's blood-drenched muzzle snapped up as Old Dog clicked his tongue. Her disappointed eyebrows furrowed as she attempted to turn back to her meal. He clicked again and Luna begrudgingly came to heel, her long tongue pulling the flavor of meat from her fur. “Come on you two.” And so, she fell into step with her lumbering mate, Cotton. His scruff browned with layered filth. Old Dog whistled his same old tune with a renewed spring in his step.

The Callerion
The Callerion There weren’t always dragons in this valley. The legends recall a previous peace before the Magic Wars were waged between the kingdoms of the Patriarch. The powers they unleashed on the world ripped a hole in the fabric of space and time. It was their contest for domination that created the Rift. Dragons came from that unholy gash of greed, terrorizing the realms that men once lorded over.

Cik the Neanderthal
Deep within the land of the north, before history had been written, existed a race of men known as Neanderthals. A people known for their capacity to survive in the midst of extreme frigidness. They knew battle well and welcomed it as if it was an old friend. It was a necessity because of the creatures that coexisted with the Neanderthals. One of the strongest warriors to ever live during the old times was among them. They called him Cik. One of his stories has been preserved through oral tradition, passed down by the descendants from a dead race.
