If That Pear Tree Can Speak

What would it say?

If That Pear Tree Can Speak

Imogen just received the keys to her new home, in a homestead like environment; a far cry from city living. To her surprise, a pear tree was in full bloom. How quickly can pears bloom?

Unpacking her goods is now on hold, as Imogen is in awe at the beauty of this larger than life pear tree that has come as an unexpected inheritance with the settlement of this property.

Walking barefoot on the luscious green grass, of which is freshly mowed, and wet with dew is soaking into her feet, making that mushy sound, with the birds nearby flapping their winds and cheeping; Imogen heads towards this larger than life pear tree. There is a pear that comes down, and nearly hits her head, with Imogen's netball like reflexes and dexterity comes to the rescue, in bending down, and in catching that loose pear with finesse; no different to how a cricketer catches a ball in victory, clasping with both hands.

Due to the tight clasp, some of the juice oozes out of this unexpectedly soft pear, running down her hands, and licking up that juice. The stickiness ensures, and each bite of this golden peach is enticing to any pear and non-pear lover alike.

It is natural to want to brainstorm, and research some pear based recipes, upon this unexpected windfall on nature knocking on Imogen's domain. Meanwhile, Imogen begins to settle into her new pad, unpacking and finding homes for her goods.

A welcome distraction is that pear tree, tall and miraculous, with leaves beginning to fall ever so swiftly from the heavy winds, almost blowing Imogen backwards when she comes out to admire the beauty.

The time comes ripe to pick another pear, and this time the pear is not as soft and juicy to the touch. Imogen chews on it, and if you find a hard macaron, you may break a tooth. This pear is chewy enough, yet on the super crunchy muesli bar side. No disappointments ensue, and Imogen decides to keep on walking through her new homestead, before dawn is about to turn to dusk.

Walking along her homestead, there are a few other trees that resemble this mammoth pear tree, yet there are no pears in sight. You would have to be addicted to pears, or eating healthy at the very least, to keep yourself busy with the consumption of these pears of similar size, with the quality remaining a fantasy like mystery.

Hiding underneath the pear trees, with the pears scaring this ginger beauty; Imogen now finds a stray ginger cat, who is ever so friendly, meowing and purring, rubbing up to her, with its fur sticking like bareback to her skinny blue jeans, and black leather boots. Imogen is looking for a microchip, and heads to the vet to find out if this 'stray' has an owner. Imogen is now the rightful owner, and calls him Cinnamon.

Dusk arrives, and Imogen orders in a pizza and some cheesy garlic bread, as she is too tired to cook. Running a homestead requires some work, and the hunt will be on to source some firewood tomorrow. Imogen invites the vet, named Craig over to thank him for taking great care of Cinnamon. They hit it off, beginning as friends, even though Imogen cuddles Craig as soon as he heads back to his practice. Cinnamon is purring away like a motor on the sofa. Cinnamon is such a cleaver cat, and could the imagination really be a preview of what is to come?

A new day beckons, and Imogen is craving another juicy pear, and third time lucky, one drops from that same mammoth pear tree, and Cinnamon rushes into his home, as Imogen left the door open accidentally. Imogen gives the cat a bath, and decides to take it to see Craig one more time. Just because, as she is smitten with him...and him.

Cinnamon is suddenly a little malnourished, and apparently the microchip is faulty. Imogen finally puts the adoption papers through, in adopting this ginger beauty again. Feeding time, and this cat is chomping down on his food, where you can hear each and every mouth feel; and is purring ever so loudly, in stark contrast to the pizza night, like the hum of diesel running.

Imogen is enjoying another golden pear, this time being a mix of soft and chewy, and leaves it on the kitchen bench accidentally, when one of her new neighbours knocks on the door to give her a housewarming cake, and guess what? It is made out of pears. Imogen goes outside, and shakes this lucky pear tree, to give her lovely new neighbour some pears in exchange. Messages of gratitude are exchanged.

Dessert for tonight is covered, snuggled up with her new cat, and enjoying a slice of her neighbours culinary delight, with Craig taking care of the dinner, and he ends up cooking a vegetarian frittata. Only time will tell if Imogen will ever get sick of pears, but for now pears for her is a form of wholesome comfort eating, thanks to the unexpected pair tree on the homestead - as well as her new boyfriend, despite being a vet. Cinnamon is clear, and Craig has put the cat on some natural supplements. That and pears.

Meanwhile, Imogen comes back inside the house, and it turns out that this ginger beauty (third times a charm) actually loves pears as well, and is eating some more. The cat is then hungry, and sits near the open fireplace, in the faith that some firewood is coming; yet is not shivering at all.

Craig and Imogen talk about life on the homestead, while Craig heads out to the back, and chops up some more firewood to keep his new love interest Imogen, as well as Cinnamon warm. Craig and Imogen are close to locking lips, until Craig receives an emergency call to take care of a local horse who has collapsed. Craig's vet nurse monitors the horse, after an IV drip is inserted, and heads back to Imogen's place, being knocked over by a few pears along the way. He is equally as stunned with more pears than expected blossoming on the homestead, on this end of a glorious White Christmas. Food on the homestead is nutritious, and Craig heads back to Imogen's new pad, and brings some more pears. They find a way to make a Perry, in order a raise a glass for Imogen's housewarming, as well as finding one another, and for Cinnamon (and technically pears) making their romance blossom forth. All sealed with a kiss.
