Annabelle woke with a kiss. Smiling she yawned and whispered good morning to her beloved Steve. His kiss was imprinted in her mind and suppressed her feelings of lonelines.

Annabelle has been following the same routine for a year. Ever since Steve went fishing at S pond and never returned. The local police department investigated and the town searched for Steve but no body or suspicious evidence was recovered. Steve's boat sat on the water tied to the dock and his truck was found a 100' away.

On that morning a heavy fog filled Enchanted City. The police theorized Steve’s disappearance as a missing person report and left the file open. Annabelle has relived that fateful day ever since. It has been exactly one year today May 26, 1948, the day of their wedding.

Annabelle made her way to the kitchen and fumbled with the coffee pot. Then she headed upstairs to dress for her morning jog. However, on this morning she wore her wedding dress and placed a beautiful wreath of flowers on her head. Looking like a bride Annabelle Headed to S Pond .

The pond had been there for many years and was given the name by the city's air traffic department . The name was derived from its shape. Looking from above, it could be considered a giant water serpent.

Annabelle always made sure to look for Steve during her jog and the entire town had grown accustomed to her daily routine. As she approached the lake many gasped when they saw her attire. Women gossiped about pity and some called her crazy.

As usual, she approached the pond, she bent down to peer into the water and was startled as she saw Steve's reflection next to hers. His Brown eyes staring at her through the rippled water. Annabelle became overwhelmed , tears fell from her eyes landing on his cheek. Annabelle cried I love you and reached into the water but the water had turned cold and still. White cracks reflected from the sun as Annabelle’s tears drifted through the water. Many onlookers watched in surprise as the pond began to freeze. Serpents, turtles, and frogs began jumping freely from the water. It was a miraculous event to watch since the outside temperatures remained 85 degrees and there was no shift in the wind.

Many people became frightened and scurried home. Annabelle sat there just staring at the images as they became frozen with the water. The images began to grow as the pond froze spreading across the entire pond until they consumed it.

The news spread throughout the town and many came to look at the spectacle. Kids threw rocks and stones into the pond but they would just slid across the top and come to a stop on the ice. Many spoke about the beauty of the colors as they froze perfectly in the water. It was a world trapped in ice.

The towns people began talking about the phenomena and discussing scientific theory. While others believed it was frozen water coming from the underground and the outside temperatures had a negative effect. Some came upon Annabelle and began calling her a magic women some even pointed at her and called her a witch. Annabelle became alarmed and frightened by the loud voices as she tried to claw and grab at the images. Annabelle was trying to make sense of the situation but she had no explanations. She cried in frustration and then began screaming and punching at the water until she fell through and disappeared under the ice.

It has been 100 years since that day and the pond remains frozen with the image of Steve and Annabelle Lee. Many believe it was a love frozen in time while others believe she held magical gifts and her tears held powers. Regardless, The S pond in the enchanted city remains one of the 8 wonders of the world.
