Sandy didn’t know what was more disturbing to her the fact that she had butterflies swarming inside her from the baritone bellow of a man she had just met, or that when she opened up the back door to her patio that a very quick and talented spider managed to cover her whole door frame with a web, overnight.

A web that ,of course, Minnie didn’t see; so when the back door opened, she just drug Sandy right into it and now the web was haphazardly spread all over Sandy.

“Oh dammit, Min, look whatcha did to the Moms.” Sandy chided as she tried to blow some of the web off of her lip.

Minnie just trotted and sniffed the ground below her. As she did, Sandy noticed a tiny purple flower in the grass.

“Aww how pretty, do you see the pretty flower, Minnie?”

Yes, Sandy was one of those crazy ladies who talked to her dog, and if you twisted her lips sideways to ask her about it, she would promptly put you in your place.

She also remembered reading somewhere that dogs couldn’t really see color just shades of grey like a black and white television, and that made her pout and wonder if that was,in fact, true.

She asked Minnie once; and the dog rolled her eyes at Sandy.

Well, it looked like she did anyway, and if Minnie can sigh and roll her eyes at The Moms, who’s to say she couldn’t see the pretty purple flower

Sandy was so amazed by it because it seemed out of place in the back yard until she saw another one and then a small cluster of them up ahead lining the path. She took out one of Minnie’s “poop baggies” from the pocket of her sweater and then bent down to pluck a few flowers, but then decided against it. She wasn’t sure what they were and she couldn’t risk them being toxic to Minnie who was up ahead of her because she decided to stretch the retractable leash to it’s limit and was sniffing her little heart out.

Truth be told, Sandy always thought that the retractable leashes were kinda cruel. Especially for small dogs.

Think about being a small dog in general and what their little lives must be like. From the second they're able to walk, a rope is tied around their necks, and then they drug outside and forced to release their bodily fluids…and then all of sudden the rope itself moving backwards and dragging you along with it.

That’s gotta be a pretty frightening feeling.

So Sandy winced as she gently pushed the lever on the leash back with her thumb, but Minnie was kinda hip to the slight tug and came frolicking back to Sandy as she was steadying herself from bending over to pluck the flowers.

“You was fittin to risk fallin all on yo backside tryna pluck a weed out here?”

Cedric’s deep voice scared the bejezus out of Sandy because the sound of his footsteps on the fallen leaves were muted by the sound of Minnie frolicking back to her.

“Jeee-sus-Christ Almighty !” Sandy shouted as she stomped the ground.

“No, ma’am but I’m flattered you were fittin to even put me on the same playin field as him.”

Inwardly, Sandy was startled and it manifested outwardly as anger.

“Don’t you ever announce your presence when you comin up behind people or are you a professional stalker?!”

Sandy was now looking up at Cedric who was almost two whole feet taller than her frowning.

Cedric’s brow lifted in amusement as he looked down at her.

“I do believe Ms. Lady I called you on yo phone about ten minutes ago, t’aint my fault you slow,” he chuckled putting a pin in Sandy’s fiesty demeanor…
