This morning's sunrise was exceptional, and the start of an amazing adventure. Element, was a miracle in itself, if not been for the care of its native Indian Tribe, this horse would have died a birth. Element's heritage was rich in a native culture revered, and true to its Sioux beginnings. His father, Star chaser, was a strong and trusted steed, whose bloodline was reserved for Chief Raging Bull's prominent legacy. Of all the Breed that roamed the land, star chaser was the most majestic, and finest of its kind. As time would tell Element would not only become a legend of his own but a symbol of freedom and healing. A guide for the broken-hearted and special spirits that had lost their way. Today was Elements born day. Unknowingly to his present owners, this was a magical day. No one on the farm could foresee the day's upcoming events. No one that is except a prize stallion, and his two newfound companions. After wake-up call and breakfast, the usual schedule was our first support group of the day, a meditation session to get our brains functioning and activated. I'd enjoyed this group for a number of reasons. One I had been feeling better than ever, and most of all since my arrival at the center I'd been in confrontation with my lower self. With the technique's I'd learned in this group, I was applying the pressure needed to overcome the insanity which led me to this point of humility and new beginnings. This group was only an hour and was over as quickly as it began. I imagined it was because I enjoyed it so much.

The farm was acres of rehabilitated land, which was home to a state-of-the-art drug/addiction rehab facility. It also was a desired stable to breed, raise and train prize-winning stallions. These magnificent stallions were prepped for one purpose, to be Kantuckett Derby Champions. This was a pristine accomplishment in which the owners of the farm had placed of great importance, by any means necessary. The Derby Crown was present, and the vision of Mr. Price's near future. If the commissioners and judges only knew what really occurred on the farm, disqualification would be the least of their concern. Neuroscience and its developing discoveries were the underlined purpose and reason for the farm's success and progression. Secretly underground lies an experimental laboratory is overseen by one of the world's top scientific minds. Neurotechnology has unveiled the recently found brain activity of the addict mind, human and otherwise, and its relation to the matter in the horse's brain membrane. This accidental discovery was fascinating to the science industry. But most experimental testing was considered inhumane, and unlawful to say the least.

As I was detoxing my mind, body, and spirit a feeling of reckoning was upon me. I could begin sensing an energy source pulling me closer by the second. Its power was demanding and uncompromising. Magnetic, and ever-present, this feeling was unshakeable. Whatever it was, I was ready to surrender completely to its will.

Compassion was the side name I had given Ms. Joanne Little. She was one of the nurses who took care of the needs of the treatment center's detox clients. Joanne was passionate about her work at the farm. For me she was more than a part of the administration, she had become a dear friend. Compassion also had a fondness for animals, especially horses. They reminded her of childhood visits with her grandparents who she missed and cherished deeply. Every evening she would make it a necessity to visit the horse stable, that had been very accessible to faculty and counsel. This particular night she overheard an odd disturbance coming from the barn. At this time everyone was usually gone for the evening, except the horse trainers, and groomers. Joanne was concerned because no one's car was in the lot, so she assumed the stable was Hers alone to admire the horses. Joanne silently walked to the rear entrance of the barn, as she opened the latch and began to open the door, she was startled by a white Barn OWL, that had nested for the night. She assumed at first maybe that Owl was what she heard, but she heard the same klitter-klatter again, to a second surprise the noise was coming from underground, directly under where she stood.

The Kantuckett Derby was a week from today. The Price's had been in preparation since their last victory trot, led by Magnificent, last semester's champion. Mrs. Price was overwhelmed with anticipation. Her fashionable style will most certainly be on full display. Her fancy head apparel was one admired near and far. The town hall had her picture's lined up and down the hallway, straight to the entry station. A superficial smile, with a superficial victory.

Element was first in line for the initial experimental treatment. Dr. O was at his wit's end, he knew it was something unusual about Element. His initial prognosis was its age. Not only was he completely wrong, scientifically, and humanely. Sooner than later everyone on the farm was about to witness the power of the ELEMENT. .....to be cont.
