Dead Men Don't Tell Tales
100 Million dollars stolen, and not a single piece of evidence pointing to a suspect.
They entered twenty-five minutes ago and vanished without a trace. When the six of them entered the casino, not one of their faces showed up on camera. Their approach was done with a scary level of precision. It amazed the approaching first responders and police. How they escaped left them all scratching their heads.
As Detective Warren traveled up the river and out of Bettendorf, he rubbed his chin as he sat thinking about the heist that was just pulled off. Six men, all armed with assault weapons, and not one of them sloppy enough to have to fire a shot. What an achievement, he thought as he turned onto an old access road.
If not for Detective Warren moonlighting at the casino in his off hours, he might never have been the wiser. There were two men in the area that could pull this off. One was in prison. Another was the swat commander.
As Detective Warren pulled off the road toward a tributary, he saw the three old trucks. The torpedos were along the shore. Julie Smith was loading one of the pickups.
He never saw the gun in Julie's hand.
Rule #1: Dead men don't tell tales.

The vibrancy promises a beautiful day, but the cooing of the Mourning Dove perched on the powerlines seems to be more fitting than the lively songs of the robin flitting through the trees. The melancholic calls of the dove cloak the world in a sadness that hangs like tattered drapes.
