A Strong Poetic Triangle

Only a few weeks ago the setting outside a rural area’s magnet school where adolescents are pulled together creating a strong bond felt the holiday greeting image transform into bitter reality. Once filled with glowing joy the giving attitude was exchanged to taking using force.

Today Jason wearing his hockey mask guarded the homemade goal having no intentions in letting anything cross the natural invisible marking noting a border.

“Come and get me Linus,” the youthful white knight snarled, “I am not giving you an inch.”

This only made Linus conjure up a major energy surge and while his skates glided, he used the wooden ‘L’ shape athletic prop sending the rubber puck into the air and right on schedule landed safely in Jason’s arms.

“Gotcha again,” Jason laughed hearing the teacher Mr. Mokytojas’ whistle alerting them classroom time soon would resume.

“Yeah, you got me,” Linus admitted shaking hands watching Jason remove the mask.

“Did you do the homework?” Jason asked.

“Yup,” Linus answered only to be interrupted by a classmate from behind.

“So did I,” she laughed separating the two, “we all stick together you hear!”

“Airine!” Linus and Jason replied in unison as the three entered warmer confines.

After bells sounded the trio, all took their seats and watched Mr. Mokytojas control the students wanting to learn.

“It is time for English,” he said, “and if I correctly remember you all had an artistic endeavor due,”

Linus and Jason looked at each other while the golden hair princess shrugged her shoulders.

“Everyone was supposed to write a poem,” he hinted.

“Okay I will read mine,” Jason stood up and proceeded to the front of the class,

Opening the black, white scholastic notebook the youngster started,

“There is this girl

She loved to twirl

On ice

Looking ever so nice

I must watch twice

After she was done

My friend and I had so much fun

Sharing our hearts since we both had won.”

When Jason came back to sit down Linus opened the three-ring binder and carefully remove his creative writing and on center stage having every one’s attention recited:

“When everything is cold

I am told

There is something in the air

That says I care

It is you

Removing the chills making me blue

A smile so warm

Sunshine in a storm

We will be friends

To the end

Nothing to mend

Only each other we must defend”

Sitting back behind the barricade desk Mr. Mokytojas was impressed and wondered who was going to present next then without any encouraging Airine volunteered.

“This is my contribution to class,” the youngster acknowledged, “I have two friends

Not boys but men

They sit beside me

Making us three

You see

Sticking together

In any weather

Defending

And mending

We will never suffer

Since we have this wonderful buffer

Love inside

Always being our guide”

After the final course commitment was complete Airine was opening the metal locker when both Linus and Jason approached showing off the red letter ‘A.’

“Did you get an ‘A’ too?” Linus was curious.

“Of course,” Airine reported pulling valentine style arrows along with a bag from the small storage area, “look guys I got to run, I hear Vladimir is meeting with Princess Bella Russia, maybe if I make a good shot then well all the snakes will take the hint before St. Patrick’s Day.”

“And then?” Jason’s interest was perked.

Throwing up her arms Airine cried, “life will come back, and the pond outside will return to being placid, beautiful flowers will be alive.”

“What about Vladimir and Princess Bella Russia?” Linus questioned.

“If my plan works, they will have a June wedding,” she blew a kiss before heading into the gloomy conditions.

“She can make anything beautiful,” Linus added.

“But we need to stand behind her to keep her strong,”

“Yes, Jason we are all in this together.” Linus agreed while his fellow country man pulled down the mask ready to protect what he called home.
