Both coffee and tea are beverages with a long history, and both have their unique benefits. Depending on your taste, you’ll find that either of these beverages can fill you up, help you stay alert, and even help you lose weight. This article will discuss the differences between coffee and tea, their benefits, their risks, and which is healthier.

Coffee acts as a central nervous system stimulant and bronchodilator, increasing blood flow to the brain and lungs by dilating blood vessels. This action also increases your energy levels and alertness and reduces pain due to inflammation or damage to your nervous system. A cup of coffee contains about 100-120mg of caffeine which rivals a cup of coffee in energy-boosting effects, although the caffeine content tends to be higher in tea than coffee. Tea may contain caffeine, but it is significantly less than that coffee.

Tea is a diuretic, meaning it can help increase metabolism. It also stimulates the central nervous system, making it feel more alert. Tea also contains tannins and other substances to reduce joint pain and inflammation. A cup of tea may contain as little as 20mg of caffeine or 80mg in an 8oz cup of black tea. Tea also has other health-promoting effects, including anti-diabetic, anticoagulant (which can help prevent stroke), and antiviral and anti-cancer properties.

Risks

Most studies show that coffee and tea are relatively safe beverages to drink. However, the FDA has warned consumers not to consume more than 3-4 cups of coffee a day for people who are long-term users or have a medical condition (such as high blood pressure or heart disease). Additionally, excessive caffeine intake can cause anxiety and insomnia.

To stay healthy, it’s best to consume coffee and tea in moderation. Limit consumption if you have high blood pressure, other medical conditions, or problems. Most studies show that drinking between 2-3 cups a day is safe.

Which is Healthier?

The health benefits of drinking black tea are significantly higher than drinking coffee A cup of black tea contains about 80 mg of caffeine, while a cup of coffee contains around 100mg. Surprisingly, teas are more beneficial to your health than coffee because this is mainly due to the antioxidants present in the leaves.
