Halloween is a time to celebrate with your children, friends, and family. This year because of COVID19 it is best to stay home and have a party. The best part of a Halloween party is to dress up and eat great food. Have your guests dress up and have a contest for the best-dressed custom. Put on some music and dance the night away. Musical chairs is a great game, the children would love to play. Pin the tail on the donkey is another old game to play. Hand a prize to the person who put the tail pined on the donkey. Bobbing for apples is another game and the children will have fun. Making trick or treat bags will make everyone happy, they will love you for it.

Putting together a party should not be hard. Make a list of the people you want to invite. How many children there would be at the party will let you know how much candy you will have to buy. I always like to have extra candy just in case you run out of the treat bags. Buy soda, potato chips, and make popcorn balls. Making popcorn balls is easy to do and the children will enjoy eating them. Bake cupcakes for everyone and decorate them with icing and candy. Children usually do not like veggies but the adults will like eating them. My friends liked the parties I had as a teenager. I made potato salad and macaroni salad. The recipes are as follows

POTATO SALAD

Wash and peel 10 medium potatoes, cut them into chunks put them in a pot of water to boil. Add salt to taste. cook them until firm. Drain and let the potatoes cool.

Cut up 1 medium onion into small pieces add the onion to the potatoes

Boil 6 eggs and cut them up, add them to the potatoes

Cut up 1 medium bell pepper into small pieces

Add the onion and bell pepper to the potatoes

Add salt and pepper to taste

Add 1/2 teaspoon of yellow mustard

In a small bowl put 1/2 cup salad dressing

1/4 cup milk

1/4 teaspoon paprika

whisk together the salad dressing and milk

Add the mixture to the potatoes and mix well

MACARONI SALAD

Boil 3 cup elbow macaroni add salt to taste and cook until done.

Boil 6 eggs and cut them add the eggs to the macaroni

Drain the macaroni and let cool

Cut up a medium-size onion in small chunks

Add 1/2 teaspoon of yellow mustard

In a small bowl put 1/4 cup salad dressing

1/4 cup of milk

salt and pepper to taste

1/4 teaspoon paprika

Wisk the salad dressing and milk

Add the salad dressing to the macaroni and mix all ingredients together

I have made the two recipes a lot and everyone loves to eat them. Usually, you would eat these salads for summer, but they are great for having a fall party.

What is a party without having pumpkins to carve! Get the children to help carve the pumpkins. They will have a great time doing it. Have a pumpkin carving contest with the children. If you do not put a candle in the pumpkin you can use the pumpkin later to bake a pie. Or you can bake pumpkin bread or cupcakes with the leftover pumpkins.

I like to buy tiny pumpkins and decorate them and put them on the table with the food. The whole idea of having a party is having fun putting the party together. Have the children help with decorating the room for Halloween. You can have the children help color a mural and put in on the wall. The children will like drawing and they will have their work for all to see! Making decorations for the party is easy all you have to do is have a good imagination. Ask the children what they would like to do first, then help them do it. Have a lot of fun decorating with the children, getting ready for the party will be easy to do.
