Trifle is a classic British dessert that has layers of sponge cake, fruit jams or fruit puree and egg custard. The sponge cake is usually soaked in brandy such as sherry, port, or Marsala and the dessert is topped with whipped cream. Trifle is served in bowls and can have various flavorings and additions like chocolate, jelly, nuts, or glace cherries.

Pound Cake

Pound Cake is a British dessert that is made with one pound each of flour, butter, sugar, and eggs. The dessert dates from the early 1700s. Recipes changed by the 1800s and the ingredients used were in smaller quantities resulting in lighter, smaller cakes.

Poffertjes are small, round, puffy pancakes that are prepared with yeast and buckwheat flour. They are eaten as a snack and topped with melted butter and powdered sugar. Some other toppings can include whipped cream, fresh fruit, or rum.

Speculaas

Speculaas are spiced cookies that are popular all over Belgium, Germany, and the Netherlands, They have a wonderful scent since they're prepared with cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and ginger. Traditionally the cookies are baked on the eve of St. Nicholas Day on December 5 and 6.

Bavarian Cream is a rich egg custard that is thickened with gelatin and combined with whipped cream, It is served cold and garnished with pieces of fresh fruit or drizzled with sweet sauces.

Kremes means creamy. This dessert is prepared with two layers of puff pastry that are held together with smooth pastry cream. The pastry cream should be light and airy and the top dusted with powdered sugar. Traditionally when served its cut into large rectangular, slices.

Apfelstrudel

Apfelstrudel is a traditional pastry that is made with thin layers of dough then filled with apples. It is baked until the dough is golden and the apples are cooked. The dessert is prepared with puff pastry, diced apples, lemon juice, chopped walnuts, and raisins.

Sernik is a cheesecake prepared with eggs, sugar, twarog, a type of curd cheese. Today sernik can be baked or unbaked but is usually made on a layer of crumbly cake. Other ingredients added include raisins, chocolate sauce or fruit.

Medovik

Medovik is a popular layered honey cake that is prepared with honey-infused, biscuit-like sponge cakes that are coated with thin layers of cream. The custard is usually prepared with whipped cream or a combination of condensed milk and butter.

Toronne

Italy

Toronne is Italian nougat that is made with toasted almonds but can be studded with walnuts, peanuts, hazelnuts, or pistachios.vToronne has a soft, chewy texture and is sold wrapped in flavorless edible wafer paper.

Ciambella

Ciambella is a traditional Italian ring cake flavored with lemon zest and sweet, fruity liqueur. It is often made for holidays like Christmas and Easter. The ring cake is prepared with a firm dough that is braided and shaped into a ring and there is a smaller, doughnut version.

Ciambella is made with flour, butter, sugar, eggs, milk, and baking soda. It can be accompanied by coffee, warm milk, or dessert wines.

Pastel de nata is a traditional Portuguese egg custard tart. It should not be too sweet and should be sprinkled with cinnamon.

Lokma is a sugar-packed dessert that is prepared with flour, sugar, yeast, and salt then deep-fried and covered with honey or syrup. It is well known in both Turkey and Greece.

Kaminari-okoshi, often called merely okoshi, is a popular Japanese confectionery, similar to rice crispy treats. The main ingredient is expanded rice, created by roasting rice grains until they pop. Then a mixture of sugar and butter or corn syrup is used to hold the rice together. It is formed or pressed in trays, left to dry, and cut into squares. Variations include using nuts, dried fruit, chocolate or sesame seeds.

Kunāfah consists of two crunchy layers of shredded and buttered kataifi or knefe dough. The dough is filled with a delicious cheese cream flavored with orange zest and cardamon then drenched in sugar syrup and infused with lemon juice and orange blossom water.

New York-style cheesecake is different from other cheesecakes mainly because of its heavy and dense texture that feels extremely smooth and rich. Its flavor should be sweet and tangy, not citrusy, chewy, or starchy. It is believed that the first New York-style cheesecake was made by Junior’s restaurant in Brooklyn, New York in the 1950s.

The cheesecake is prepared with heavy cream, eggs, vanilla, cream cheese, and (optionally) sour cream, while the base usually consists of a sponge cake crust or graham cracker crust.

Banana Bread is a sweet American bread prepared with mashed bananas. The banana bread has a golden brown top. Banana bread is prepared with overripe bananas, flour, butter, eggs, baking powder, sugar, ground cinnamon, and chopped walnuts can be added.

Banana Split

Banana split is a classic dessert that is made by cutting a banana lengthwise and placing it in a dish. Then topping it with scoops of ice cream like vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry. Usual garnishes include nuts, fruit, whipped cream and a cherry on top. The traditional long dish it is served in is called a boat.

It has become a popular part of the cuisine of New Orleans, The dessert is prepared with stale bread, milk, sugar, eggs, nuts and fruit and baked. It is consumed hot as a pudding or cold as a cake.
