Canned Biscuit Cherry Danish

Allow me to preface this by stating I am extremely lazy. If I can order my food and have it delivered, I will. Now, I won’t go on and on as I feel like you probably don’t care to hear my life story as you search for a snack. But I will tell you, sometimes I get a craving for something sweet when I am broke, so I have to forage for myself.

That’s how discovered this recipe, super simple and easy with not much to clean up when you’re done. Best of all it’s only four ingredients! You will need:

• 1 can of separate and bake biscuits (I used the cheap kind but you can be fancy and use name brand if you want!)

• 1 - 21oz can of Cherry Pie Filling (Again any brand but if you want to spruce it up they have some nice looking glass jar brands in the market you can try instead!)

• 2 Cups of confectioner/powder sugar

• 2 Tbsp. Of Milk or Cream

• 1 Tsp. Vanilla Extract

Preheat your oven to 375 degrees.

Next, pop open your can of biscuits, place them onto an ungreased baking sheet 1 to 2 inches apart and gently press the center down to form a dip. This is where you will put your cherry filling, so make sure you leave edges so it doesn’t run out.

Use your cherry pie filling to fill the dips you made, leaving the edges bare. When the oven is fully preheated, place your baking sheet in the oven for 11-15 minutes or until the edges of the biscuits are golden.

While you wait for the pastry to cook, you can prepare your icing drizzle. Mix the two cups of powdered sugar together with your cream and vanilla and stir until smooth. If you would prefer a thinner consistency you can add a bit of water until it reaches your liking.

Once your cherry pastries are done and out of the oven, allow them to cool to a warmer room temperature and drizzle your icing mixture over them in whatever pattern you like. I prefer a squeeze bottle if I’m making them fancy but for the ones pictured with this article, I simply used a spoon.

Wahlah! You just created a super delicious and easy treat that will satisfy your sweet tooth and even impress your friends!

These are really good for anytime of the day. They are also an acceptable breakfast food! You can switch this recipe up and make it custom with other canned fruits like apple or blueberry. Even try adding a layer of chocolate or Nutella and top with marshmallow if you are looking for a s’mores vibe! The possibilities are endless!

Consider making these for a brunch or baby shower, even if you aren’t a good baker normally, you will fool everyone into thinking these took serious dedication and effort. Don’t be surprised if you get asked for the recipe!

These are best enjoyed within two days of baking. You can store them at room temperature or in the refrigerator. I don’t suggest freezing because when you defrost them, the biscuit will get wet and become soggy.

Cover them with plastic wrap regardless of where you choose to store them. To avoid getting the plastic wrap stuck in the cherry filling, place a normal toothpick directly in the middle of the cherry part of the pastry before you put the plastic wrap on. The toothpick should stand fairly straight up so that when you cover the pastries with the wrap, it sits atop them.

This quick, sweet treat won’t disappoint! Hope you enjoy!
