Cold brew coffee w/ salted whip cream topping

Everyone these days is looking to save some money, without sacrificing quality, and I'm here to help. As Americans, we run off of coffee, and spend a lot of money on it. This recipe will save you some money, impress friends and family, and cool you off on these hot summer days.

Cold Brew Coffee with a Salted Cream Topping

Whether you are a cold brew connoisseur or hot drip dabbler, this cold brew recipe is so easy, cost efficient, and delicious, you will wonder why you weren't doing it earlier.

Cold Brew Coffee

I actually ran into and interesting turn of events, making this cold brew. My cold brew container had a crack in it and was broken, but did that stop me? No, this recipe is so versatile and easy, you do not need an actual cold brew coffee container to make it. Instead of using a cold brew coffee maker, I just used an empty water jug. When life hands you lemonade, make cold brew coffee.

clandestine coffee maker

What you'll need:

1 1/2 cups of coarsely ground coffee

3 cups of cold water

1 mason jar, water jug (what I used), almost any container that can hold liquids

A few coffee filters or cheese cloths

Yield:

About 2 1/2 cups of cold brew concentrate (which will yield 5 cups of cold brew coffee after adding equal amounts of water for dilution)

Directions:

Combine 3 cups of water and 2 1/2 cups of coffee in the container of your choice. Shake it, shake it real good! :,) The leave in the refrigerator for at least 8-12 hours, although 24 hours would yield best results, and keep shaking it real good every once and a while. After you feel the coffee has been sufficiently steeped and shaken, filter all the bean residue out, and then you will have some delicious cold brew coffee concentrate.

Salted Whip Cream Topping

This is the real star of the show, and is what really makes this recipe so good.

What you'll need:

1 cup of heavy whipping Cream

1 tablespoon of sugar

1 whisk

1 bowl (preferably metal)

1 teaspoon of vanilla extract (optional)

Yield:

1 cup of whipped cream

Directions:

Leave whisk and bowl in the freezer, until its ice cold. Combine the heavy whipping cream and and sugar, then whip it, whip it real good, seriously whip it real good! Once you notice that the whip cream is getting thick and stiffening up, it's ready!

Whip it real good!

Okay, now that you've shaken and whipped real good, all you have to do is combine the two recipes.

Directions:

Combine a cup of the cold brew concentrate and a cup of cold water. Add ice cubes, sugar, and/or milk if you so desire. You can even add a little Kahlua, if you want to get the party started early or stay up for a night on the town. Top that coffee with your whip cream, then garnish with a pinch of Himalayan pink salt or whatever type of salt is in your pantry (preferably salt that is not too finely ground). Really that's it! So simple yet so delicious! If you don't believe me try it for yourself.

There are so many ways you can modify this recipe, it is a good base for you to explore your creative potential. Whether you want to save some money, impress your friends, or just want to have a delicious cup of cold coffee on a hot day, I hope you enjoy this recipe as much as I did.
