There's a lot!

There's a lot!

1.) You can lower your risk for heart disease and Type 2 Diabetes!

Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn organized a five-year long study among patients with extreme coronary artery heart disease. He fed his 21 men and one women a low fat vegan diet and he found extreme results. One person's artery damage had regressed by more than 30 percent. Not only can a vegan diet prevent this issue that plagues most families in America, but it can also be reversed.

Diabetes is NOT caused by purely sugar! Animal based diets can have very harmful effects on your blood sugar and pressure because they are filled with saturated fats and cholesterol. A vegan diet can reverse diabetes and even get diabetes patients off their medicine in as little as two weeks.

2.) Other Disease Prevention

Vegans have lower rates of cancer, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, strokes, and even Alzheimer's. Dairy and meat products can cause a great deal of damage to your internal health!

If you are interested in learning more about the health benefits of a vegan diet there are many documentaries on Netflix that can be very helpful. My personal favorites are What The Health and Plant Pure Nation.

3.) Prevent World Hunger

As of today we have enough resources to feed upwards of 10 billion people, while only 7 billion people live on the planet. Livestock consume about 50 percent of the grains produced around the world and 70 percent of the grains produced in the U.S. because the demand for animal products is so high.

4.) Animal products are contaminated!

A disgustingly high percentage of animal products, whether it be meat, poultry, fish, diary, or eggs, is contaminated with a dangerous bacteria that is found in the stomach, intestines, and feces of the animal. In fact, 95 percent of the chicken found in stores is contaminated with fecal matter due to the violent tactics used to remove the insides of the chicken out in the assembly line.

5.) Animal agriculture is a main contributor to climate change.

Around 50 percent of man-made pollutants come from animal agriculture. That's more than the entire transportation sector combined!

To learn more about the effects of animal agriculture on the climate, watch Cowspiracy on Netflix.

6.) Worried about protein?

Kendrick Farris set the U.S. Olympics weight lifting record. He's a vegan.

There are so many plant based sources of protein! Just to name a few:

Broccoli, spinach, quinoa, tofu, beans, nuts and seeds, lentils, and plenty more. Don't worry about your protein!

7.) Be Kind

Slaughter houses are not there to make the end of life for animals comfortable, they try to make it as fast and easy as possible. This includes ripped out throats of cows, beheading chickens, and crushing baby chicks to death.

8.) You'll have more energy!

Dairy and meat products take a really long time to digest which makes you feel lethargic and like you have a rock in your stomach. Plant-based foods typically contain a lot of fiber which helps your digestion and helps get rid of toxins in the body as well!

9.) Better Skin

Fatty foods are a huge contributor to acne! Meat, dairy, and fried foods are among the worst foods to consume if you have acne prone skin. Plant foods contain a lot of water as well as natural vitamins and minerals that can help clear your skin.

10.) You can save a lot of money!

Staples like grains, beans, and legumes are very economically friendly! Meat and cheese costs a lot of money and once you cut that out of your diet you can split your grocery bill almost in half!
