The cookie walk has always represented a unique way to usher in the holiday season. Attending the event has served as a lovely tradition for the entire family.

Before the pandemic, the cookie walk was a highly anticipated annual Christmas holiday event that was growing in popularity. Organizers spent quality time planning and preparing a large variety of festive homemade cookies to display and sell. Many cookie trays and cookie boxes filled with these cookies also filled tables at the event venue.

Families who attended the cookie walk to purchase delicious homemade cookies paid for empty containers used to fill with the cookies. As they strolled around the cookie tables that burst with delightful culinary fragrances that visually tantalized their senses, parents and their children donned plastic gloves and filled their cookie holders with as many treats that they could hold.

Proceeds from cookie walks typically benefited various service projects and community organizations. Or the event was a wonderful activity for families to participate in at holiday gatherings.

The coronavirus has changed the way cookie walks can take place due to safety concerns. Even though family members are unable peruse rows of beautiful and aromatic cookie tables to hand pick their own delights to add to their cookie boxes, two recommendations exists that allows the event to continue.

The New Cookie Walk

Here are two ways that a cookie walk can be held during the pandemic era.

1. Cookie walk organizers should determine the types of cookies that will be available during their modified event.

2. Bakers must agree to use good sanitary habits when baking their type of cookies at home.

3..The first recommendation is that a cookie walk menu could be available online for members of the pubic. If cookie boxes can be purchased in varied sizes, the price points should be included on the menu along with the number of cookies that will be placed in the container. Orders should be placed by the designated due date as the payment is also made. A receipt should be generated that indicates the date and time that cookie boxes may be picked up onsite. The pickup telephone number should also be shown on the receipt. Cookie purchasers may pick up their cookie boxes curbside by calling the telephone number upon their arrival at the cookie walk location.

4. The second cookie walk recommendation is for parents and their children to arrive at the cookie walk location within the designated time frame communicated to the public. They must conform to safety protocols for their in-person cookie pickup. This must include wearing a mask. Organizers must arrange to have cookies placed in protective cases at their event. Guests should be able to make their cookie choices as workers filled their boxes. In-person payments can be made, too.

The Last Word

The pandemic will not be able to stop the unique cookie walk event from taking place during the Christmas holiday season. While safety protocols will need to be observed, it will just be the format of this event that will need to be changed.

Families everywhere will be able to participate in cookie walks. And delicious cookie walks will enable guests to purchase tasty and festive cookies that they can enjoy with their family this year.
