The Big Mac is a hamburger sold by international fast food restaurant chain McDonald's. It was introduced in the greater Pittsburgh area, United States, in 1968 and nationwide in the United States in 1968. It is one of the company's signature products.

A June 2018 report stated that McDonald's would begin phasing out the Big Mac as a national menu item by late 2018; McDonald's has not yet verified this claim.

If you love Big Macs and want to try your own homemade version of the popular burger, here is the recipe, it is not exact but this is as close as you can get.

Ingredients

1 sesame seed bun

2 100% beef patties

(salted and peppered, to taste)

2 slices American cheese

4 thin slices of tomato

1 leaf iceberg lettuce

1 big slice dill pickle

!Secret Sauce ingredients: 2 heaping tablespoons mayonnaise, 1 tablespoon sweet pickle relish, 1 teaspoon finely minced white onion, a few dashes of hot sauce, 1/2 teaspoon white vinegar, salt.

Preheat a frying pan on medium heat.

Place the bottom half of the bun face down on the pan as well as one beef patty and cheese slice.

Start making your secret sauce by mixing all ingredients together in a small bowl. Once you have it mixed, keep stirring to avoid lumps.

Add the assembled patty to the frying pan and heat for about 5 minutes, or until cheese is melted.

If adding pickles, add them now then briefly toast the top of the bun then place on top of the fully assembled burger (face up). Serve with fries and your favorite sauce like Big Mac Sauce! I hope you enjoy this homemade big mac as much as I do!
