Dasara Telugu Movie Review: Critics Appreciate the Movie as a Mass Entertainer

Cast: Shine Tom Chacko, Sai Kumar, Poorna, Nani, Keerthy Suresh, Dheekshith Shetty, Srikanth Odela

Language: The Telugu "Natural Star" Nani, who starred in films like "Eega," "Jersey," and many others, put in a lot of effort to promote his first pan-Indian and biggest movie, "Dasara," all over the country. The moviegoers were intrigued by the trailer, but did it live up to their expectations?

Dasara Movie Review

Set during the 90s, in Veerlapally town arranged in the Singareni coal mineshaft region, Dasara starts with the narrative of three cherished companions Dharani (Nani), Soori (Deekshith Shetty), and Vennela (Keerthy Suresh).

The villagers of Veerlapally are alcoholics and primarily consume alcohol. Rajanna (Sai Kumar), Shivanna (Samuthirakani), Chinna Nambi (Shine Tom Chacko), and Shivanna are political leaders of the village as well as members of the liquor mafia. Dharani, a teenager, is in love with Vennela, but when his best friend Soori tells him that he also loves the same girl, he hides his feelings. He backs Soori and helps him get Vennela's attention.

Dharani persuades the families of Soori and Vennela to agree to their marriage while they were on their coal-stealing adventures and drinking. After his best friend marries, he feels emotional and happy, but he gets involved in politics without knowing it, which wrecks his life and the lives of those around him. His love for Vennela and friendship are put to the test during this phase. You will be privy to the dark secrets and aspirations of a villain as the story progresses, which will keep you interested until the epic climax.

When it comes to the performances, Nani gave one of the most memorable performances of his career as Dharani, a debaucherous, foul-mouthed character. With this big hit, the actor reinvented himself and ensured that his flawless performance would be the talk of the town. Keerthy Suresh again conveys a characteristic presentation and communicates each feeling easily and artfulness. Dheekshith does an excellent job playing the role. One of the best parts of the movie is how he gets along with Nani. Shine Tom Chacko makes you hate him to the core when he appears in his negative persona.

Due to his gripping narrative and exceptional storytelling, Srikanth Odela made a sensational debut as a director. A special mention should go to DoP Sooryan for perfectly conveying the village's theme, mood, and essence, as well as the situations in the film, which amplifies the narration.

Dasara is set in a place with a rustic atmosphere and rough-looking people. The audience gets a one-of-a-kind glimpse into a brand-new world thanks to Srikanth Odela's decision to make this choice. However, Srikanth Odela relied primarily on two major plots here, rather than just the premise: Politics in the village that are centered on a bar and human feelings that are centered on three relationships: love, friendship, and lust.

The first half of Dasara introduces the Veerlapalli world, Sarpanch politics, and the development of friendship and love relationships. While Nani and Deekshith Shetty succeeded with their on-screen fellowship, Keerthy Suresh is seen with extremely high energy. In the first half, Nani can sometimes be seen as the underdog. He is actually presented in the same manner. Once more, Nani's natural performance is truly admirable. His role has been justified by Deekshith Shetty. The film's superb cinematography by Sathyan Sooryan enhances the viewing experience. The film Dhoom Dhaam Dhosthaan was shot beautifully. Ori Vaari and Silk Bar were also impressive.

As it gets closer to the intermission block, Dasara abruptly adopts a serious tone. The village's political enmity grows, making the intermission episode the highlight of the hour. It was a brilliant move by Srikanth Odela to construct the intermission to focus on emotions rather than action. The Dasara intermission serves as a prelude to Dharani's fury in the second half.

Critic Ratings: 3.5/5

The final part of Dasara opens with the continuation of a few profound scenes. Dharani's explosion is certain to please the audience. However, Srikanth Odela stays true to his feelings and writes only between the main characters. For a while, this might not be appealing. The scenes are good on their own if they are cut cleanly, but they don't live up to the expectations of the audience in this sequence. One anticipates a powerful climax, but Srikanth's offering at the conclusion was beyond strength and power. The climax of Dasara will erupt with energy and whistles throughout the theater. Nani's most intense performance to date is here. One of the best endings from recent blockbuster action dramas is this one. This is spectacular.

Srikanth Odela is an exceptional maker. With a decade of experience, he is comparable to any successful director. Dasara raises the question of whether Srikanth is truly a debutante. Keerthy Suresh once more demonstrates why she is an actress who has won national awards. In his role, Tom Chacko is too good. Every actor in Nani's friend group deserves special recognition. In the final scene, they are extraordinary. Samuthirakani and Sai Kumar are useful, but they could be used more effectively. The production team and the production design team deserve praise for their outstanding work. Lastly, Santhosh Narayanan was the right choice because his music put Dasara's soul in the right place. Therefore, Dasara is an action drama that is well worth everything it has, despite a few stretched out minutes in the second half.

Another film that celebrates Telugu commercial cinema, Dasara features an incredible performance by Nani and Srikanth Odela's raw emotions.
