Creole Deer Burgers by Amanda Payne

Creole Deer Burgers are hot and juicy tongue-tingling Creole flavored venison hamburgers with a spicy homemade Creole mayo. It is a flavorful burger that is super easy to make!

This recipe is not for the faint-hearted! If you like plain burgers with no spice or heat, then you might want to stay away from this one. You can, of course, lessen or leave the Creole out of the burgers and not use as much in the mayo, and you will be good to go.

Yields: 4 Creole Deer Burgers

Serving Size: 1 Creole Deer Burger

Creole Deer Burgers Recipe

Ingredients:

Burgers

  • 1 pound of ground venison (or beef, chicken, turkey, etc...)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup of quick oats, uncooked
  • 1 1/5 tablespoons of Creole seasoning
  • 4 hamburger buns (your favorite buns)

Creole Mayo

  • 1/2 cup of mayo
  • 1/4 tablespoon of Creole seasoning

Getting It Done:

  1. Prepare the Creole mayo first by mixing 1/2 of a cup of mayo with 1/4 tablespoon of Creole. Mix until smooth and refrigerate for later.
  2. In a large bowl, break the raw ground burger into smaller pieces. This will make mixing easier.
  3. Add 1 egg, 1/2 cup of uncooked oatmeal, and 1 1/5 tablespoons of Creole seasoning and mix evenly.
  4. Divide the meat into four meatballs and press the meatballs into hamburger patties.
  5. Preheat the pan to medium-high heat and place them in the pan. Once the bottom of the burger and part of the sides are browned, turn them.
  6. Fry the burgers on each side for a few minutes each or to your preference.
  7. Add Creole mayo to the insides of the hamburger buns.
  8. Remove the burgers from the heat, place them on buns, and serve.

For this recipe, I used ground venison hamburger meat. If you do not have venison, you can use beef, chicken, turkey, or any other type of ground meat that you prefer or have on hand. You can even mix more than one meat together and create a flavorsome burger! Make this recipe your own!

These burgers are great as leftovers too. To reheat, first, make sure it is unassembled. Microwaving a whole burger will make it soggy and gross. Place the patty on a microwave-safe plate and heat it for 40 seconds. Then flip it, and heat for another 40 seconds. Continue heating until it is too hot to touch with your bare fingers. Then, using a fork or a set of tongs, assemble the burger and enjoy!
